Meeting Cornelius

Image
Pork & Noodles , swiped from williamnyk on Flickr. On sunday, mum went to New Era College for a charity sale, so I followed SK to English mass at 8:45am instead. A surprise guest presided over the eucharistic celebration-- Bishop Cornelius Sim. His name was so familiar. Then it hit me... I saw his name while I was researching for Catholic churches in Bandar Seri Begawan. According to Wiki, he is the current Vicar Apostolic of the Catholic Apostolic Vicaiate of Brunei. Should be correct cause he wore a skullcap and had a ring on his finger. The new assistant parish priest had the task of caring for this VIP. Mass with Bishop Cornelius wasn't a bed of roses as he had the habit of mumbling! Kinda like Jay Chou in thirty years time. The junior priest kept on pushing the mic closer and closer to his mouth, it was quite hilarious. However, his sermon was quite interesting. Related the story of the Magi with our lives-- they paid homage to Baby Jesus all the way from the east then

For Rent

Image
for rent , swiped from hownowdesign on Flickr. Seems like looking for a tenant is not easy at all. With the help of SK and my renovator, three agents were roped in. So far, two have proven to be unprofessional. Agent M found me three female tenants. They had requested for at least two water heaters to be installed but on the other hand were prepared to pay more for it. Agent M said: "Aiyah, if you don't put heater hor, also can't stop the tenant for putting it themselves lo." I was flabbergasted. Is the tenancy agreement just a piece of paper? What kind of tenants is she recommending to me le? Agent Y on the other hand found me a newly-wed Malay couple: "I need to bring them see the house la wor. You gave the renovator the key ah? See how la, I find a way to go into the apartment." Another nut case! Was he trying to break into my apartment?! Goodness. Between the Chinese girls and the Malay couple, I favour the Chinese. I just feel that the former have more

A Whole Lot Of Balls!

Image
Crystal Ball / Hands / Person , swiped from ►CubaGallery on Flickr. Master Six-Balls bought a Big Golden Ball for an obscene lump of money. Lets just say that for the amount he paid, he could play with one hundred set of flesh balls every day till the day he died and still have plenty left over for his Little Balls ( his progeny ). Ever since the Big Golden Ball enter the household of Master Six-Balls, every other ball in his house became inferior in comparison and had to pander to its every whim. Whereever Big Golden Ball went ( and it went where ever it pleased ), all the other balls had to pretend to be small and let Big Golden Ball to be center of attention. All the other balls were awed by this newcomer and wondered what magic it could do. So mysterious, so high and mighty. Then one day, Master Six-Balls brought Big Golden Ball out to meet his friend, Master Blood-Octopus. Master Six-Balls couldn't help but preen and praise his latest toy. Piqued, Master Blood-Octopus asked f

The One In Twelve

Bamboo , swiped from williamnyk on Flickr. 2012 didn't quite feel any different from 2011. Woke up and had breakfast with mum and SK. Skinny food of bihun in soup with fish paste. Just after breakfast, I followed SK to Damansara Uptown to help her with some of her part-time work. Since I was in PJ, I texted HornyBF to meet up. Just had a quick drink at Starbucks. HornyBF just had a cinnamon roll and a frappucino. Such a petite appetite. One would expect more from a foodie. Hahaha. On the other hand, I ordered a latte and was given a free drink voucher required me to complete an online survey. No wonder the barista made small talk with me, it was one of the survey questions. Just made small talk and discussed about some food options around Klang Valley. While we were busy yakking, SK was busy learning how to pick her office lock from the nearby locksmith! I have yet to ask her to teach me. Back home, I just did a whole lot of nothing. Trying to break the lull, I went running at Ta

The Day Before Tomorrow

Fruits and Fish , swiped from williamnyk on Flickr. On New Year's Eve, I did not go out to the market. I woke up at about 9:00am and went to have breakfast with mum at one of the nearby kopitiam . A simple breakfast of noodles and coffee. Chatted a bit in the cool morning air. Saw a little girl helping out her mum at the prawn noodles stall. Amazed by the deftness of her little hands in butterflying the blanched prawns. Her eyes did not even need to be on the blade. Every time the knife came close to her hand, I flinched. My awe turned to disgust a minute later when I saw her scratching her itchy scalp with her hands and then later groping through the contents of the bowl looking for unprocessed prawns. Oh la la. At about noon, mum went out to her society meeting while I stayed at home doing some work for my boss. Late Friday evening, I was tasked with coming up with a spurious document that contains phoney screens that proves that our system can provide phoney functionality. Love

A Sky Blue Lunch

Image
Lotus Root , swiped from williamnyk on Flickr. On the last Friday of 2011, SK and I arranged lunch with HornyBF and Briyani Blue Sky. Both of them had appointments in the morning so their showing up was tentative. Being ever practical, SK and I did not wait for confirmations and just proceeded with our lunch plans at Restoran Kongsai , Taman Paramount. Just between the two of us, we ordered half a kampung chicken , lotus root soup, pepper stomach soup ( I just ate two pieces! ) and bitter gourd stir-fried with roasted pork. We finished everything on the table, knowing that HornyBF had cancelled and Briyani would arrive only after 1:00pm. Was quite suprised that he managed to speed all the way from Bangi, was as though I owed him money. :P. But don't get me wrong, was very happy that he made the effort to come join us. When he arrived, he really looked over-worked with a 2-day stubble growth on his face and he seemed more gaunt than the last I saw him. He ordered chicken rice and a
