Rats, My Router Died

Image
Felt that my Wi-Fi router was a bit wonky. The plug didn't connect well in my Belkin 4-gang extension. Some movement might cause my Wi-Fi router to lose power. I tried to move things around a little, I heard some sizzling and that was the end of my Wi-Fi router from Maxis. Not only that, the particular power socket in the extension also died.  Lesson 1 : Don't stick a two-pin plug into a three-pin socket without a proper adapter. Don't be tempted to stick a pen into the socket, and then push the plug in.  Lesson 2 : You can't connect your laptop directly to the TM Unifi modem and expect to get an internet connect. A router is necessary.  So I had to live without Wi-Fi for a few days while waiting for my new D-Link router to arrive. While lugging it home from the office, a well-meaning fellow passenger on the LRT commented that I should have gotten Asus instead. I took note of his suggestion.  Although I had the replacement on hand, I couldn't set up the new router i

CNY III & IV: Lenovo & Canon

Brocolli , swiped from williamnyk on Flickr. Note: I'm back from Taiwan! Did anyone miss me? By CNY3, my sister was already back in KL, and so she paid us a visit first some time before lunch. Like a second reunion dinner, mum recreated some of the dishes that we had several days before. Another day of gluttony. Gave red packets to both my nephews. A first for the little one. He immediately shoved the pink packet into his mouth. =_=. Around 3:00pm, SK and I went out to pai nien with my MIL. She gave us red packets the first moment we went through the door. I think she remembered that she did not give us anything last year. Didn't talk much to my MIL. She greeted me and then mumbled halfway through, like she did not know what to say. Thankfully, she went to nap later, giving us some privacy to fool around on the couch. Braver than usual, KH even pulled me into his room. No full-fledged skanking though. But good enough for a start. Good enough that KH needed to change into a

FaveApps

instagram logo , swiped from clasesdeperiodismo on Flickr. The following are the three most-used iPhone Apps: What's App Instagram Facebook The USD0.99 that I paid for What's App was returned many times over by the sheer frequency I use the app. How can one put value on an application that helps you keep your boyfriend close over a large geographical distance? Can't even count the hugs and kisses that I had received and sent via this app. Not counting how useful it is to exchange more intimate moments with each other. Hehe. Also a fun tool to use to 38 with a group of friends and make boring days at work more bearable. On the other hand is a great way to share your 'arty' photos. It's fun gathering likes and comments on your otherwise mundane photos without the help of IG's various filters. It's also great because many cuties post their sexy photos on it. Huhuhu. I stalk many of them! Unfortunately, it has recently been swamped with lotsa spam and bots.

Insane Inbox

Image
Note: Oppps... I just noticed that I did not completely download the photos from my camera, so I'll have to pause the ending to my Singapore trip posts. Here's a filler for you! A question for all iPhone users out there.... after upgrading to OS4.0 does your inbox go nuts intermittently? I use GMail and maybe the 80k+ mails in the inbox are giving it a hard time to sync. As you can see in the pic, the listing goes nuts with no sender, content and subject. Zombified e-mails. Takes a few syncs to clear things up a bit. Then it comes back again. Like a persistent credt card salesman. Lemme know if you have any solutions. Thanks.

Why It's Not Fun To Be A GwiP

The iPhone is cool no doubt, but it does miss out on some hardcore cellphone features that I've been soooooooo used to! Here are a few: Once you hit send for an SMS, there's no turning back! Better do a double take before sending flirty SMS-es to people other than your BF! You type and type and type your SMS, but you dunno how many characters you have used up. More chances to blow an extra 15 cents on just a few extra characters. Give me T9! I don't really like the predictive text. I usually miss the hints cause I stare to intently at the keyoard. Related to the previous item, I have been avoiding apostrophes when typing! There's no zoom for the camera! I hope this won't hamper my work on LRT Celebrities! As I mentioned before, I have itchy fingers. And with each itchy attack, the battery life drops quite drastically. -1%. -1%. -1%. Goodness. It's like watching a taxi meter tick. And no caller groups! I have to assign ringtones to individual contacts. So trouble

Come Take A Bite of this Apple

Image
Bon Appetit Swiped from williamnyk . My colleague has an iPhone. KH has an iPhone. Nic and POD both have iPhones. SK recently converted too. And with the What's App Messenger touted as THE TOOL to keep me better connected with KH, there had been subtle hints for me to bite into Apple. I'm not really a gadget-crazy person and I'm usually quite practical ( read: miser ), so I had never really considered getting it. For one thing, my Nokia 5220 is still in good working order. It's just a little rough the edges, what to expect when it had kissed the asphalt many times since I got it. Of course, it also has sentimental value since it's a birthday gift from the boyfriend. Putting that aside, let's talk about dollars and cents. My fingers are very itchy. I send a lot of SMS. When bored, I'd use GPRS to check my e-mail. And these constant fiddlings usually augment my prepaid phone reloads to an average of MYR125 a month. And since the DiGi promotion is MYR159
