Peanut Porn

Image
I always order the lotus root soup from Restoran Kong Sai because it looks more like peanut soup! Love the soft texture of the boiled peanuts. Seems to be more peanuts than soup. Bwahaha. Do you like it like this?

Getting High

Image
For our trip to Genting Highlands, Gratitude did the driving. Arrived at Gohtong Jaya just in time for lunch. Never dined there before I think. A long row of Chinese restaurants and fruit stalls to meet the many demands of travelers. Not surprisingly, there's a perpetual traffic snarl around it during meal times. Reason: narrow roads, lack of parking, inconsiderate parking, and tour buses. As the Genting veterans, Gratitude and SK chose to eat at Kedai Makanan Loong Kee . Not only did one have to fight for a parking space, getting a table is challenge of its own. But the waiters do help to smooth things over. Our meal simple-- steamed Tilapia in hot bean paste, stir-fried vegetables, steamed egg, and pork belly pot with salted fish ( very crispy slices of meat ). If you ever eat there, do take a look at their Lost and Found cabinet that contains all sorts of items left behind by customers. Once we had finished our meal, we had to fight to pay our bill! Their POS system had cr

Raya Malaysia Baru

Image
If memory serves, I went to Tun M's Hari Raya open house at Sri Perdana in the final year of his premiership. For some reason, the Hari Raya open house shifted to PWTC starting Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi. Najib followed suit. A very basic affair, with no 'wet' food. Usually lemang with serunding , and biscuits and cakes for dessert. Probably to avoid oily stains on the carpet. But then, memang potong stim . So for years and years, I didn't attend the federal government's open houses. Partly cause it's BN and partly cause of the sucky food. With the birth of Malaysia Baru, Tun M's first open house was held at Sri Perdana! Full circle. Who would want to miss such a historic moment? Hehe. Mum, SK, SK's ex-colleague ( who is having a mid-life sexuality crisis ), and I arrived there before 10 AM. Thank goodness we managed to park not too far from the main entrance. Being the prime minister's official residence, the place was under the jurisdiction o

Rimmed Again

Nowadays, dates with KH happen out of the blue. If he schedule opens up, I would get to see him. Our mid-June date ( OMG a 5-month backlog! ) was pretty complete. Grabbed a bite to eat at Mimi Nguyen . Finally tried their bánh mì, got some grilled pork ribs, and a stuffed bitter gourd soup. That was followed by "Pacific Rim: Uprising" at IOI City Mall. Not bad for a sequel I guess. Bigger, badder Kaiju. More angsty Jaeger pilots. When it was time to talk, we usually would stop for teh tarik . Safreen is a convenient because its on the way back to my place. Although its necessary to get things off my chest, its really not an easy task for me. Takes me some time to open up. But I think KH is quite an expert at coaxing me, and he has definitely picked up a lot of people skills while learning to excel in the Nu Skin business.

PBD Then Pavi v2.0

Note: For some reason blogger decided to revert this post. Perhaps due to my switching between the Blogger website and the app. Luckily I had it cached somewhere else. Cracked my head thinking of a place to go for Sunday lunch. When I saw the Pusat Bandar Damansara sign, I just took the exit, and headed into DC Mall. Truth be told, that place is dead on weekends (the tenants don't even need to open their shutters!). Not to say it's not dead on weekdays, just dead-er. Haha. Strangely in that dead place, there is a cafe that is bustling with activity. That cafe is Birch. Good thing that they had ample staff to handle the hungry crowd. Mum and I had the Shakusha and Ulam Spaghetti. The former was a spicy baked eggs kind of dish, but with less eggs than I hoped for. The pasta was delicious, but for RM35 you would think that it could be less basic. They are actually famous for their burnt cheesecake, but we were to full to try. For those of you looking for an Instagram-ab

Stage Celebrities: AV Ambrose

Image
While going through my photo archive, I came across a cutie that I had forgot to share with all of you. He was the audio-video technician for a Huazong event in the middle of 2017. What do you think of AV Ambrose ? Think he qualifies as an AV actor? He has a nice height and build for sure.

Clumps of Grass

I grew up in a neighbourhood that was made up of rows of squat houses striped with grassy fields. We often hired grass cutters to manicure the fields ( back in those days, they still used metal blades instead of plastic strings ). Once the grass was cut, I would help out with the raking. No matter how well we raked, there would always be leftover blades of grass. These stragglers make their presence known after a heavy downpour. Once the rain clouds clears and the sun dries the field, one would often find 'tentacles' made up of brown grass clumped together by the rain. I loved to pick at those clumps, and let the dried grass crumble through my fingers. Sounds dirty? Just a random memory from my childhood. Not sure if you know what I'm rambling about... :D.

Slow Life Hokkaido VII: Shopping at Sapporo

Image
Sapporo was just a short drive from Otaru, under an hour. Like most of the cities in Japan, very block-ish in design, hence contains a barrage of traffic lights and cross-junctions. Parked our car at one of many public parking spots ( the one we parked at had a clamp at the bottom that only released after paying the bill ) and went on foot. Spent most of our time there shopping really. So many drug stores with Chinese-speaking staff. However, with the Payke app, you can get most English product information just by scanning the barcode. In addition to drug stores, we also went treasure hunting at Donki ( amazing selection of sex toys ), Daiso, Book-off, etc. We had our lunch at Ginza Lion beer hall. Great place for Western food. At around 3:00 PM, we left Sapporo for Chitose. Dropped mum and Sis off at the AirBnB, while Bro and I went to pump petrol and return the rental. FYI, some petrol stations in Japan have the service and self-service pumps. Unknowingly, I stopped at the sel
