The next morning, we left before the other relatives since they were too slow to get ready. Mum and I drove back to Bentong to check out their famous morning market and have breakfast. Took a gamble with  Yuen Kee Kopitiam , an old corner coffee shop without a signboard. Judging by the crowds, it must have some good food. Took us twenty minutes of circling to secure a table. Mum ordered  wantan  noodles from  Hooi Kee  but seeing that they seem to be operating so chaotically, she ordered  chu cheong fun  from the other stall just in case. The CCF was quite impressive. The flat noodles had a good texture and the they use a combination of sauces not seen in KL. In addition to that, they also have a wide selection of stuffed beancurd, fishballs and fishcakes that are quite yummy. That tided us over for the forty-minute  wantan  noodles wait. I just sat there sympathizing with all the other customers who couldn't get a seat while mum went galli...

Recently ( in the context of this blog ), my maternal cousin tied the knot with a lass from Karak. Since mum us closest with this uncle of mine, we were invited to both wedding banquets. The bride's function was a week before the groom's and was held at Bentong, a twenty minute drive from Karak. In the morning, I went to tidy up my unruly hair and mum got her's washed and styled. By the time we finished lunching at Nam Heong and got home, we only had a short time to get ready and drive to Bentong. My stylist who is a Bentong boy warned me that wedding banquets there start on the dot. Our drive there took ninety minutes and lots of highway tolls. Arrived with fifteen minutes to spare, but sad to say, the dinner started ninety minutes late. Guess the KL virus got to them. The venue was Grand Court Restaurant and was obviously pretty new.
