Eerie Electricity

Image
Ever since TNB came to replace the electrical meter at my condo, I have been receiving complaints from the tenant. At night, the downlights flicker with a ghostly glow, and the power sockets light up regardless switched on or off. I made a complaint to TNB, and they sent their technicians to take a look. TNB declared that it wasn't their problem. Subsequently, I made a complaint to the management office. The chargeman took a look and declared it wasn't their problem either. Stopping short of hiring a psychic, I called my electrician to take a look. He found that the live and neutral wires were swapped at the distribution board! Amazingly, the problem wasn't obvious until TNB changed the meter. Once again I contacted the management office to sort out the problem. Of course they blamed the developer and labeled it a legacy problem. I went in person to talk to the chargeman, and it was my first time meeting my Nigerian tenant. It was a good chance to take a look at the unit af...

Hope

Signed a tenancy agreement with a Nigerian woman who entered Malaysia with a student visa. Her name is Hope. As much as I hope that she's not a troublesome tenant, the day she moved in, she already caused me to spout fire. This tenant was introduced by an agent who happens to be my BIL's friend, so I didn't intervene. All arrangements were made through the agent. He told me that the agent was supposed to settle it, and that I should ignore the whole debacle. Ignore? Wow. That really floored me. In the end, the management office allowed her to move in with an e-mail approval from me. To me, the agent was problematic for not answering ...

GM Gathering

Image
T'was the last weekend of CNY, so my GM invited the whole project team to his place for a makan-makan gathering. Scheduled for lunch, so I went for the earlier English mass. Got my coffee fix at Coffee Sprex after that and shared a big breakfast with mum. Sitting behind me was a young couple. The guy was going on and on and on correcting the girl's grammar and vocabulary. Gosh. I suspect that he loves the sound of his own voice. And the worse thing was that the girl seemed to be enjoying it. Annoying is the new attractive. Back to the CNY party. Like in the past, my GM did all the cooking. Last year was pork ribs, this year was sandwiches. He baked his own bread and Vietnamese baguette, made his own bacon and ham and even grilled his own satay ! Amazing. We even joked if the sliced apples for the sandwiches were home-grown. And he would ply us with drink. Was high on The Glenrothes Scotch whisky and Johnnie Walker Premier Rare Old Scotch whisky. The house was overrun by kid...
