Kooky Keria

Image
Called in late on Friday because I had to patch a punctured tyre. Took me less than ten minutes, and MYR5, which is cheap by usual standards. Decided pack a box of keria gula melaka for my colleagues before heading to work. I had to wait around half an hour for them to whip up the first batch. Towards the end of my wait, I observed a peculiar scene at the stall. A lady filled a wok with a bunch of palm sugar. Then she fished out a packet of rock sugar and proceeded to wash it with water. Once that was done, she slashed the top with a pair of scissors, and the contents joined the gula melaka in the wok. I squinted my eyes, and then it dawned on me why she washed the packet earlier~ the rock sugar in the wok was crawling with ants. Lol. I wonder if the batch the lady was packing for me at the moment had a similar secret ingredient. Haha. Later that evening, I had a dinner date with SimonLover, Boon, and KH. Boon wanted to eat at Grub by Ah Hong . SimonLover and I were able to g

Of late, KH and I never had much time together due to busy schedules. Whatever the case, one must always make time for each other. Used Valentine's Day as an excuse for dinner at  Tanzini . I got off work pretty early, so I roamed around Avenue K. When I had exhausted all the outlets, I slowly walked over to G Tower to continue waiting. I nearly fell asleep on the sofa at the lobby. Haha. Such the epitome of a patient hubby. Impressed? :P. Finally at 8:25 PM, we were shown to our table. No hangri-ness that night because I was pretty well-fed in the afternoon. My colleagues had organized a pre-CNY lou sang lunch at Restoran Makanan Laut Zhen Liew Siang , a popular haunt for working adults in the KL area. If you know the place, you'd be no stranger to their oily and 'super-flavourful' signature dishes. After stepping out of the elevator on the 28th floor, we were greeted by a friendly waiter who asked whether we had a reservation. Luckily, they had a table for a

Undicesimo Anniversario

Eleven years together with KH, doesn't feel like it. Been through so much together, and for sure there's more ahead of us. In a relationship, there's no real destination, it's a journey undertaken together. We marked the occasion with an Italian omakase dinner at Butler & Chef , Solaris Dutamas. The restaurant is located right beside Red Bean Bag ( I wonder if people still queue to eat here ). Besides us, there was only one other table occupied on that Saturday night. Both of us ordered the 7-course dinner which would have cost a pretty penny if not for the TableApp promotion. Here's what we had: Caprese salad. Beetroot bisque. Pan-fried salmon. Grilled giant river prawn. Grilled lamb with nai pak  ( an uncommon pairing ). Seafood spaghetti marinara ( a mountainous serving of pasta! ). Panna cotta. By the end of the meal, we nearly couldn't get out of our seats. Since we were the only customers left, Chef Mino, the owner and chef came out to

Running Around

Mum was back at the dentist again for further fitting on her chrome cobalt dentures. Only the little one was with us because Big Monster was at a church camp. But later on, my sister picked up Little Monster as well. Since we had the time, mum and I went to settle some AirBnB chores. Had to pick up the dirty linen and pay the cleaners. All that running up and down really gave us a healthy appetite. We stopped for lunch at Restoran Goon Wah as we were lucky enough to find parking. Shared a bowl of their XO fish head noodles and stir-fried intestines. I think the quality of food has gone downhill ever since the business changed hands. The weather looked perfect for a run in the park, so mum and I changed and drove out to Taman Bukit Jalil. The moment we set foot on the jogging track, it started to rain heavily. We found shelter a nearby gazebo and waited the rain out. Forty minutes later (-_-), the rain let up, and I just managed to put in a 15-minute run before it got dar

As my regular readers would know, the stuff I post on my blog is as fresh as a two month old loaf of Massimo left on the kitchen counter. Simply put, this is a weBlog with a Backlog. A blog blog. A true blog. Haha. Anyway, I'm gonna fast-forward for a special occasion-- KH and I's 8th anniversary together! On our 8th year, he didn't write me card. He didn't record me a video message. He didn't send me a telegram. He didn't send me flowers. He didn't get a tattoo with my name on it. He didn't give me a diamond ring. He didn't write me a back cheque. What he did was, he wrote me a GSC confession. LOL. And it was posted on the 28th of January, the date it all started ( with some help from the Admin ). Truth be told, I missed his confession. When I scanned through the first few sentences, it only scored 1.25 on my Skanky Scale. I got a mini scolding for that. Anyway, here's what he wrote: Love you dear. Happy Anni!  Muacks.  Muacks

Septième Anniversaire

Noodles to Start the Day , swiped from williamnyk on Flickr. It was the last weekend before CNY and I brought mum out to do last minute shopping for groceries and fresh produce. As expected, the roads were jammed and the crowds were crazy. Parking was also sparse. Our first stop was at the Jalan Hujan Emas 8 market. The narrow bi-directional road was made narrower by inconsiderate shoppers who stopped their car by the road. When cars came from both directions, they had to squeeze their way through. Matters were made worse by the fact that many who shop there drive large, luxury cars out. :S. Why drive out an unwieldly Chevrolet Colorado out to the market where there is no proper parking? Really baffles. Saw tensions rise a bit when an old lady in a Kelisa slowly but surely scratched the side of a red Mercedes B class. Fortunately, the aunty did not ask for compensation and just sulkily drove off. Rushed over to the Nissan service centre after that. Now that I had bought the warrant

Suddenly Singapore I: Finding Friends

Tokio Marine , swiped from williamnyk on Flickr. My bosses arranged a training session in Singapore out of the blue for some technical issue, so I was there for three days and two nights. At first, I was supposed to fly Silk, but due to a company policy forbidding employees to travel on the same flight, I had my ticket changed to Jetstar. Well, at least it flies from KLIA. Checked-in early so that I would have the chance to use the Plaza Premium Lounge ( unlimited access with Alliance Bank Platinum ). Good that I was there early cause by 8:00 am, there was a queue outside. My colleague was shocked when he saw the line. Not quite exclusive hor ? LOL. Food was so-so, but at least the latte was satisfying. It was my first time visiting the Singapore office. Basically the seat of power is there. The KL office is just a proxy. We are the puppets while the puppet master pulls the strings from down South. The office was on Cecil Street, very close to the famous Amoy Food Court. On our fir

wine glasses , swiped from Xipe Totec39 on Flickr. Saturday was another working day for me, but I just clocked in a few hours after having a WTM breakfast. Arrived in the office at about 11:00am; had free nasi lemak compliments of my client; waited for the file to be loaded; found that the transaction settings were incomplete; waited for my client to complete the set up; verified the results; found that there were problems; had free lunch of fried chicken and stingray curry; unable to resolve the problem cause the other team didn't come in; clients went home, so did we! Reached home at about 3:30 pm. Should have rested, but I didn't. Went for a swim instead. Dug out my black Aussiebum trunks and when I stretched the material, I heard a crackling of sorts. Kinda like crumpling a pair of undies with dried cum on it. Think it's about time to retire that pair. Luckily it didn't slip off during my laps. Dried myself off and went up to SK's place for dinner. Two of SK&#

Coincidental Confession

Post Secret YOU ARE GAY , swiped from Ron Reason on Flickr. KH pointed this out to me on the GSC FB page and what I read really surprised me. Sounded like our life story, but with some slight variations. I could actually steal it and make it my own here with slight adjustments. So for those of you who missed our story, here's a good version! Gay SG Confessions It all started during a time when blogging was all the hype, before people started spilling all their thoughts on Facebook or Twitter, or finding each other using social apps on smartphones. I used to be a blogger and I followed his blog religiously. He writes very well - funny, opinionated, sarcastic - it's like music to my ears reading his entries everyday. And my, the number of fans he has, would be awesome if I had just a quarter of his. Editor: Yes, I found KH on Blogger. KH's blog read more like science journal on Elsevier rather than a magazine actually, but I still enjoyed stalking him. :P. And his blo

Romantic , swiped from CarbonNYC on Flickr. Every day, KH asks me the same question: "Hi dear, what time today?" Not what time to shag, back what time I will get off work. Depending on my workload, I will reply him, but it's usually around the same time. But he never gets tired of asking. At the agreed upon time, we will make our way to the rendezvous point. Sometimes I would wait for him, at other times he would be earlier. I would Instagram while waiting, while he normally reads Gay SG Confessions. But when we meet, the greeting is standard: "Hi baby!" When we board the LRT, there would usually be no seats available, so we stand near the door, telling each other about our respective day. Oft times, KH would update me about interesting GSC stories and I would tell him about the things that annoyed me that day. And throughout the week, he would be planning about what to eat for lunch on Friday and what movies to watch. Sometimes often , he would show

Stairs to Relaxation , swiped from williamnyk on Flickr. First read about Nada Lama Jamu Spa and Bar in Twi's blog post . Was quite intrigued and was considering it for KH and I's sixth anniversary. Looked quite special and out of the way, a gem nestled inside Penchala. Did some research and what the heck, asked KH to make a booking. With Waze, we made our way there ( after a light breakfast at Abiram's ). Made some wrong turns, but the app guided us through some really weird village roads to the vicinity. Wasn't really sure which it was, but we saw a car turning up a hill ( marked as Penchala Hills ) near Subak, so we just took a gamble. True enough, we came to the right place. I immediately recognized the wooden house with stilts built leaning against the hill... and of course the cute little statue of sleeping elephant right at the stairs leading up to the lounge. Very serene. We were the first customers of the day. Even the cats were still half-asleep. The staf
