Sungai Buloh Soiree

Image
Once in a while, mum would get hold of some random charity dinner tickets due to her connections with people who have close ties to Chinese-based associations in town. This time round, someone passed her a couple of tickets to Persatuan Kebajikan Yee Aik Sungai Buloh's charity dinner. According to their Facebook page, their focus is on filial piety, Chinese culture, and charity work. The dinner brought us to an unfamiliar part of Klang Valley~ Kampung Baru Sungai Buloh, some 30 KM from home. On the way there, I drove past the spanking new Menara EPF. The dinner was held at the event hall of SJKC Sungai Buloh, and the sheer number of guests that were invited practically choked the small new village roads. I parked my car at the nearby market square and walked over. Every guest was welcomed with a lion dance. They had the familiar Southern style and the more unique Hakka lion which looks like something out of Minecraft with its square jaw, and a Flower Horn forehead.  The event was g...

Restaurant Celebrities: K-Boss

Image
Ticket to Korea is one of my favourite Korean fusion restaurants. The menu is small, but the few things on it will get you hooked. Even if the food ( the cheesy ribs are recommended ) doesn't attract you, perhaps the K-Boss with the American accent will. P.S.: At the time of writing, the outlet at SetiaWalk is temporarily closed :(

Shopping Celebrities: Hallyu Han

Image
With the Korean Wave at its peak, our boys look towards their Korean idols for fashion inspiration. Spotted Hallyu Han at K Plus Cafe, located inside K Plus Food Market, a Korean version of Isetan Food Market. The fella looks like he stepped out of Korean BL comic. The hair, facial features, and fashion sense were all on point. Although it would be perfect if he was taller, but I'm sure it would not be a dealbreaker for many of us.   Annyeong haseyo!

BahBoys V or Sabah Celebrities: Sabah Stan

Image
Time to bid our farewell to beautiful Sabah. A pretty short trip, with not enough time to eat everything, haha. First breakfast was Beaufort Noodles at Restaurant Beaufort . Basically stir-fried noodles with thick gravy, minus the egg drop. Second breakfast was ngiu chap at Kedai Kopi Cheng Wah . Wasn't impressed. Drove over to KKIA to return the car. While KH was settling the grown up stuff, I got to cuci mata with  Sabah Stan . Pretty hairy legs. He was the best thing at KKIA.  All in all, it was a great trip. Easy to get around. And lots of attractions. Will return to visit the other parts.

Cafe Cutie: Flip Off Fred

Image
Flip Off Fred was spotted at Old Malaya Cafe , Aurora Place ( nothing special here ). The unique way he holds his smartphone might be an indication of what he likes. Haha. Do you hold your phone like Flip Off Fred?

Chef Celebrities: Dinner Duo

Image
The second day of the new year started off with another food coma. SK invited mum and I to an omakase dinner at  Chipta 11A Curated Dining . The location is unique~ right above a 7-11, and we visited on a Sunday, so the surrounding area had transformed into a night market. For our 6PM slot, we were joined by KH, and Apollo. SK managed to get us seated at the counter so we could watch the young chefs in action. Eye candy enhances the umami of any meal. Definitely enjoyed the experience. Good sake pairing, nice ambience, no pretentious servers, just the pure enjoyment of food.  P.S.: Who are you ordering for dinner?

Cafe Celebrities: Barista Babes

Image
It was a Friday night, and KH and I were out in a cafe in Bukit Jalil. Spotted these two young'ns behind the counter. Boys have such unique sense of style these days. What conversation do you think the Barista Babes are having? Hope to see an interesting exchange in the comments section. :D. And can you guess which cafe?

Kopitiam Celebrities: Mountain King Mark

Image
Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. While having breakfast at Restoran Tuck Tuck Tei at Taman Desa, I spotted Mountain King Mark having his soup noodles with his compression-clad girlfriend. Honestly, he should trade his Akita SANNOH basketball jersey for more compression gear really. His biceps would be wrapped beautifully. He had black tights underneath his shorts ( lose the shorts! ), but its not that obvious from my photo. Don't ever skip breakfast, ya?

Cafe Celebrities: Barista Badrul

Image
The dry season had been upon my blog for very long. Neither hunk nor cutie had graced these pages for months on end. Finally, some sustenance has arrived in the fetching for of Barista Badrul from 43 Coffee in TTDI. With those arms, you definitely know that your coffee extraction is in good hands. That cafe was a random choice after KH took me out to lunch at Meatology  ( unfortunately the MCO might be driving it to an early grave ). Well, no fresh meat there other than the truffle siew yuk on my plate. Back to 43 Coffee-- I found the interior to be very out of the ordinary. On one end, they had the typical coffee counter, on the other, there was wall-length Chinese ink painting that looked more at home at a taukeh 's managing office. Behind a hardwood doorway with carved lintel, was another a section that looked like a lounge in a Balinese spa. Colourful plush pillows were scattered on teak furniture. Ignore the identity crisis and visit the place for its good coffee, and of co...

KH Turns 40

Image
The second Wednesday of March was KH's 40th birthday. I took a day off to spend time with him on his special day. Started the day off with some fooling around at home. He was turned on by my choice of a STUD jockstrap. Turning 40 didn't dampen his libido as well. After that rare jockstrap sex session, we went to Aurora Place to collect my multi-focals. Handed over my spectacles to the optician and waited for him to switch the lenses. Fifteen minutes later, he came out with bad news. He had cut the lenses, and fitted the left lens. While trying to complete the job, the right side cracked! Ack. He scrambled to find a similar frame and thank goodness that the first pair he picked out was a perfect fit, and I actually liked the design. Phew! The frame was complimentary. By the time everything was settled, it was already time for late lunch.  My hubby is a big Penang Char Kway Teow junkie, so didn't mind going somewhere far for a good plate of it. We drove all the way to Sungai ...

Shopping Celebrities : Starbucks Shawn

Image
As usual, mum and I were roaming Paradigm Mall after church on Sunday. An 'angel' passed me a red helium balloon with heart-shaped chocolates anchoring it down. The boy was dressed like a like a white Dobby with wings. He was wearing white shorts underneath his thin 'pillowcase'. Should have went for a white G-string instead. I let the balloon float above my shoulder. When I was in PDI, a toddler actually followed me around. Guess Pennywise the Dancing Clown got it right. When we got tired, we sat down at Starbucks for coffee. Spotted Starbucks Shawn having a chat with his buddy. Looked pretty young and straight, wearing a Raglan T with sneakers. Is he your cup of coffee?

Winter Melon Winter Solstice

Image
Construction along Lebuhraya Bukit Jalil had been going in for years, and finally the building by Ho Hup was ready for business. The place was called Aurora Bukit Jalil, and we found about it because of the many buntings advertising the grand opening of Super Seven, one of the anchor tenants. Super Seven is actually an offshoot of NSK, but without the wholesale section. The crowd was crazy with loads of people taking advantage of the daily, and membership specials. Even the lucky draw counters were swamped. Many of their customers were actually the foreign workers who lived nearby, probably those working at the Pavilion 2 site. There were some restaurants on the higher floors, but looked pretty dead otherwise. In the afternoon, sent mum out to get her hair permed at OUG. It was so hot that we stopped for cendol on our way back. It was the Winter Solstice, so mum made some tang yuan. Normally we would eat in, but Sis suggested that we eat out for a change. Hotpot was quite a ...

LRT Celebrities : Black Bryant

Image
I spotted Black Bryant on the Ampang Line while I was heading back home. His all black gym togs really caught my eye. Of course those biceps and brooding, manly looks played a major role too. He was traveling with his family, but he gave them wide berth, preferring to retreat to the connection between train cars. Perhaps he was busy on Grindr and didn't want his parents to look over his shoulder.

Ozzie Outing

Nearly forgot about mum's quarterly visit to the gynaecologist. Skipped marketing at OUG and headed to Bandar Puteri instead. The visit took longer than usual because the doctor was more than half an hour late getting in. Whenever we are in the area, we always go for the delicious Teochew fishball noodles at You Fishball Noodles . Can't beat the texture because no flour is added into the saitou fish meat. Robbie, an IG friend of SimonLover and I was in town. He was on vacation with his Malaysian hubby, and Kuala Lumpur was the last leg of their journey before returning to Melbourne. A good opportunity to meet him in person. Mum dropped me off at the LRT station on her way out to a meeting. I got off at Plaza Rakyat, and walked the rest of the way to Merchant's Lane . Not a great idea as the sun was really merciless that afternoon. Took me some time to find the place as it was my first time there. Found a small sign with the words "We are beside a stationery sh...
