Merdeka in Singapore I: Back to Bugis

Image
Over the long Merdaka weekend, KH and I made a trip down to Singapore to visit friends. Looking back at my passport, my last visit was in 2019, a few of years before Covid. At KLIA2, I actually bumped into my church member. Such a small world. We arrived at Changi way past lunchtime, so the hubby was understandably hangry. Randomly picked Tsui Wah at Jewel, and it was KH's turn to bump into someone he knew. I was amused by the way his ex-colleague's children were eating their lunch-- they sucked up strands of wantan noodles draped over their hands.  I'd have a fit.  Along the way to Tater's place in Bugis, we passed by all the memorable landmarks, Bugis+, Bugis Street, and Albert Centre, to name a few. And since it was the 7th lunar month, the spaces around OG department store showed signs of activities from the Hungry Ghost Festival. When we arrived, we were given the customary welcome bear hug, and peck on the cheek. That night, we didn't have dinner with our hos...

Happy Raya

Image
During the Raya holidays, Tater balik kampung  to visit family and friends in Kuala Lumpur. Kampung Westin to be exact. KH and I met up with him at the hotel, and even had a morning swim. One of those rare times that I actually put my sexy swim trunks to good use. The highlight of the day was actually the gay matinee show at KLPAC. We had invited Tater to watch "Happy Fest" , a typical production from William Yap. As expected, Tater was the only potato in the village. Quite unexpected to see ang mohs at these Chinese productions although subtitles are provided. Can't say that I remember much of the details, but Jason Yau was in the cast to provide the much needed 'skin factor' ( I didn't bother to take photos although it was allowed ). Some topics 'covered' in the play was drug use, throuples, mental health x suicide (?), a Daddy's interaction with his mother-in-law. Douglas Wong's ( not too sure why he's wheelchair-bound ) portrayal as 塔塔罗...

Tater In Town: The Ultimate Question of Life, the Universe, and Everything

Image
Tater was in town again for 'work' and more importantly to spend time with friends! Impeccable timing as well because my 42nd birthday was coming up. Celebrated with a little 'pool party' at the Westin ( Tater missed the cute boys at the front desk ). Thank goodness for the awesome weather and sexy trunks. Our dinner plans were at Lai Ching Yuen , Grand Millennium Hotel. Realized that we seldom have Chinese food with Tater although he's such a rice queen. The restaurant was so empty that it felt like we had booked the whole place. Birthday boozing and coffee session was sponsored by Tater at 443 Bar Lounge .  Great ambience. When I got home and opened the present from Tater, I was wow-ed by the strappy harness style underwear that he got. Definitely need to shave before rocking that pair! Note: Sorry Tater for disrupting your diet plans!

Tater in Town: Reunion

Image
Tater was back in town, so KH and I headed out to the city center to welcome him. We worked from Wu Di Cafe  while waiting for our Singaporean VIP to arrive. While waiting for dinner time, we did some catching up over coffee. On our way out, we noticed a bunting advertizing a local BL web series called "Wu Di In Love" . If you haven't guessed, the series revolves around the cafe, and I've seen the MC ( guy with the strong eyebrows and jawlines ) hanging out at the cafe. Perhaps he's the owner.  Dinner reservations was at  8Haus Cafe . Been wanting to try the food there since the last visit to the area. Chose two varieties of roulade and some truffle pork. Then it was time for some booze at Sin Chew Kee Cold Drinks Store . Definitely worth toasting to our log awaited reunion. Hope to see more of him in KL when his regular schedule is confirmed.   P.S.: Tater gave us belated Christmas gifts. Super skimpy and sexy. Which do you think would suit me, and which woul...

Tater in Town : Dinner, Ice Cream, and Coffee

Image
Whenever Tater is in town, KH and I make it a point to meet up with him. He was staying at Westin Hotel again ( I suspect its due to the cute guys they employ for the check-in counter ), so KH and I gathered there before dinner. Finally passed him the acrylic medal holder to celebrate his induction into the 7 Continents Marathon Club. It had been sitting under my bed for a long time! After a short chat, we headed out to Wizards at Tribeca for dinner. Took us ages to cross Jalan Imbi just to get there. The traffic police just kept the traffic going with no priority for the pedestrians. A very pretty place, but the dinner menu is also pretty expensive unlike their lunch options. We shared two main and a salad. Truth be told, when I exited the restaurant, I was as hungry as when I was walking in. Went back to Pavilion for ice cream and coffee at Stone Cold Creamery ( brings back memories of when Tater was based in Bugis ) and Starbucks . Back at Westin Hotel, the staff were bu...

Tater in Town: Pavilion Potato

Image
Tater was in town again and we agreed to meet at Pavilion Kuala Lumpur because it was close to his hotel. Once again, he surprised me with sexy underwear-- this time a pair from Singapore's XCIT3. It was an interesting pair of cut-away bikinis called Ethan  ( for all I know was named after his cute Vietnamese friend in the States ). The pouch has a dual construction where one can move away the front to reveal an inner pouch. Definitely need to shave to rock this pair. Thanks again. Asked what he felt like having for the night and he answered Italian ( probably wanted a cute Asian twink as well ). We went for dinner at Bello , on the 6th floor, an NKOTB Italian restaurant. We shared a funghi and feta pasta, and a diavola pizza. Not too much, as Goldilocks says, "Just right". Something sweet at KAKIGŌRI ended our Tuesday evening meet-up. Definitely my first and last time ordering their "Watermelon". Will stick to the tea-based items. Yikes. While sharing ...

A Test of Will

Image
Only on rare occasions do I get to laze in bed on a Sunday with KH. No rush to get out of bed to attend mass since that was already taken care of the day before. Really savoured the chance to just kiss and snuggle with the person I love. Of course, that led to something more physical that drowned out the sound of chirping birds outside my window. The plan for the day was to spend time with Tater, the VIP from Bangkok who was in town to visit close friends. KH and I had wracking our heads, thinking of a suitable place for lunch. Multiple aspects were factored in, for example food preferences ( Tater suggested Japanese ), vegetarian options ( for QueerRanter-D ), positive reviews, location, and sun-ngan-ness . Not easy really, since we did the thinking during short breathers during sex. :P. Anyway, we parked at The Westin, then took the underpass from Fahrenheit 88 to Pavilion. Sanoook was located just at the border. In case you didn't know, Sanoook is a cross between a casual Jap...

SAFRApore IV: Going Home

Image
It was time to checkout so we made good use of the bed for one last time. Still had a little time, so we went to the food court at Old Airport Road. Ate some fish soup and prawn noodles. Really old school there as most of the hawkers spoke Cantonese. Took the bus back and I spied a really horrible sign inside: The Malay is ... ugh ( no pineapple pen here ). Hate the sentence structure. We finished packing and took the MRT to Changi. Met up with Tater there who was catching his flight back to Bangkok. Tater passed us some egg custard mooncakes ( I dunno why this is popular ) from Hong Kong. Due to some weird circumstances, ZR was in Hong Kong for a day trip and he bought some back. Although it was a short trip, we managed to meet many friends and made good use of the time. P.S.: Tater's cookies didn't the survive the flight back to KL. Had to improvise a bit. I scooped some chocolate pecan ice cream, put in some sliced bananas and sprinkled liberal amount of cookie cr...

TaterInTown: Quivo

Image
Tater was in Kuala Lumpur for a social trip so we made plans to meet over dinner at Quivo, Pavilion. Started things off with some happy hour drinks and some beer snacks. Quivo's Cheesy Spinach Dip was an excellent start. Crispy pita chips go well with a melted Parmesan cheese infused with baby spinach. For dinner, KH and I shared a pizza. Post-dinner coffee was at Coffea Coffee where Tater tried the Peanut Butter Latte. Not something I think I will ever order. Haha. Always great to have Tater over because he's such a nice guy and always has great stories to tell. His most recent adventure was at the North Pole Marathon! Never a dull moment in his life. And he's not seeing anyone at the moment... :D

Tater in Town: Thai Tater

Image
Tater was in town from Bangkok for work. Originally, we had scheduled for a dinner on Sunday but it got bumped up to lunch because his lousy counterpart was well... lousy. That last minute change caused us to scramble to salvage the situation. KH had a brilliant idea and actually picked him up from the airport and went to Kepong to meet me, where I was waiting for my mum to finish her massage appointment. Lex managed to join us but Apollo couldn't. We lunched at Nelson Tan Cafe . I ordered a huge ass pasta with pesto chicken while KH went for a Mexican baked pork thingy that came in a claypot. My poor hubby was sneezing the whole time. He blamed it on the intense sex session we had the day before. It was great meeting up Tater and Lex. Tater had a great opportunity to update Lex about his new adventure in Bangkok. And when it comes to things about Thailand, Lex's eyes would light up. The staff at the cafe were really attentive. When they saw that our drinks had run dry, they ...

In Tater's Town III: Shop Till Massage

Image
On Monday morning, both Tater and KH donned their skanky pants ( running tights ) and headed to Lumphini Park for a jog. Being the lazy pig I am, I stayed in bed. When they got home, KH and I went out for a local breakfast while Tater stayed home to have hamster food and milk. After so many years in the SEA region, I would have thought that his stomach adjusted to rice and noodles in the morning. Hehe. Just down the street was a small food court with quite a good selection. I ordered a bowl of wantan  noodles and KH went for the soup noodles with duck meat. Hot and hearty. Got a couple lattes at Alex Coffee  before heading back up. Arranged to have lunch with SK at Siam Paragon. Believe it or not, we went back to Hokkai-Don  just for the chutoro sashimi !!! Ordered four portions and moved on to MAiSEN  for some katsu . Definitely go for the premium meat. The shrimp  katsu  sandwich is quite good too. One small thing though, their cabbage salad ...

In Tater's Town II: The 6 Cs

Image
Coffee ( or Cock ) Woke up bright and early on Sunday cause both of us were horny and we weren't gonna get anymore sleep without settling our woodies. It was an intense session but the apartment was big enough that we didn't wake our host. Tater brought us to breakfast at Dexter , a very hipster cafe with a cute barista. KH and I shared the big breakfast of scrambled eggs, sausage, ham, oats, greens and cheese. And they served specialty coffees from around the world. To replenish my protein, I ordered the Austrian coffee. It came disassembled where I had to pour two shots of espresso over a raw egg yolk and then mix in honey. Not exactly a drink to sip, more like a drink to chug down while its hot. Church After breakfast, KH and I went to church near the US Embassy. The Holy Redeemer Church is special because it looks like a Catholic Wat. From the outside, the main church building looks like a typical Thai viharn with a multi-tiered roof. It was a suggestion from t...
