Bali 2.0 V: Paradise of Hunks

Image
Sun and skin was the theme for our fifth day at Bali. Pure island excursion with no church visits. Before the crack of dawn, we were herded into our bus with a breakfast box. Pelabuhan Sanur is a busy port, so it was best that we arrive early to beat the crowds. The bus was not allowed in, so we had a brisk morning walk to the port. The port building was obviously brand new, shaped like a sea dragon of Balinese legends. Although we arrived early, it was only 90 minutes later that we boarded the boat to Nusa Penida . Some of us prepared motion sickness medication, but truth be told, it wasn't very choppy. On the island, we broke into small groups of 4 or 5, and got into SUVs. Proper tarred roads were few and far in between, so we were practically bounced for 45 minutes in the vehicle before we got to the attractions. Firstly, we stopped at Crystal Bay , which wasn't an exceptional beach, but there was some eye candy. Compared to the other visitors, we were obviously not embraci...

Bali 2.0 I: Back to Bali

Image
In August, I took one week off work to accompany mum on a pilgrimage to Bali. Yes, quite shocking when I heard about it because Bali is predominantly Hindu. During my last visit in 2009 , I didn't notice anything other than Hindu temples. For some of the participants, it wasn't their first trip out there. One lady told me that it was her 6th trip to Bali! The flight out was at 9AM, so we were out of the house by 5AM. The tour was organized by 72 year old gentleman, by the name of Uncle Jacob. With the help of his daughter and son-in-law, he had helped us get the boarding passes and luggage tags before we even arrived ( don't know how he did it ). All we had to do was use the self-service baggage drop.  Thank goodness there weren't any delays because Air Asia is often sucky these days. Ngurah Rai Airport's new terminal was really impressive. It did take a while for us to get out because the immigration officers were really 'not into it'. Also wasted more time...

Market Celebrities: Seafood Stephen

Image
People go to the wet market for fresh meat and fresh seafood. Seafood Stephen is a combination of both. His T looks sprayed on. Spotted him at OUG morning market. Worth waking up early to go to the market right?

DashcamDudes: Cake Charles

Welcome to the inaugural post of DashcamDudes -- as you can guess, it's cute guys or hunks caught on my car's Yi dashcam. We start off the series with Cake Charles , a sweaty Indian dude in boardshorts so wet and tight that were clinging to his deep valley . Serving cake in Bandar Baru Sri Petaling! The quality of the footage ain't great, I must admit, but you'll have to use some imagination. LOL. Hopefully there's more future material for my dear readers.

Image
Look at those guns on Trapeze Tyson ! He's with Escape PJ , a provider of unique experiences such as aerobatics, climbing coconut trees, banana flip, climbing buildings, etc, all in a controlled environment. Don't worry, and just do your trapeze flip knowing that he'll be there to catch you in those muscular arms. Go sign up at Paradigm Mall. Perhaps they have a free trial.

Tokyo 2020

Image
The Olympics Tokyo 2020 ( which happened in 2021 ) came and went. Felt a tad underwhelming. Just paid attention to the highlights.  Misc. news . Interestingly, Tokyo was in a state of emergency during the games, which also meant no serving of alcohol. And then there was news about the so-called anti-sex beds in the Olympics village.   Opening ceremony .   Didn't sit through it, but the live action pictograms were cool because it used the concept of the kabuki kuroko or stagehand. Very fast-paced and I got a bit dizzy from the ever-changing camera angles. And the talk of the town was the Tongan flagbearer, Pita Taufatofua, who was topless and looked like he fell into a vat of pork lard.  Artistic Gymnastics . Daiki Hashimoto. He's a natural on the pommel horse, and I would find it very natural to see him being pummeled in a COAT Athlete video as well.   Diving . Tom Daley was often in the limelight, either while in skimpy swim trunks ( SimonLover commen...

LRT Celebrities : Black Bryant

Image
I spotted Black Bryant on the Ampang Line while I was heading back home. His all black gym togs really caught my eye. Of course those biceps and brooding, manly looks played a major role too. He was traveling with his family, but he gave them wide berth, preferring to retreat to the connection between train cars. Perhaps he was busy on Grindr and didn't want his parents to look over his shoulder.

Pilgrimage 2.0-12 : Amazing Amman and Au Revoir

Image
Started our day with breakfast, then morning mass at the hotel function room. Then it was off to Amman Citadel located on Jabal al Qal'a, one of the seven hills that make up the old city. It provides an amazing vista of the city where houses cover the hilly terrain like white moss. Sami says that there is a law, that states that buildings in the area must be constructed from white stone or painted white. From up there, we also got a great view of the Roman Theater , a landmark from the 2nd century. Historically, Amman Citadel was occupied by several great civilizations. The Romans left the ruins of the Temple of Hercules . There's also Byzantine ruins, and an Umayyad Palace . Next was a visit to CityMall for some shopping, but the mall was pretty dead. It was 10 am, but no shops were open with the exception of Carrefour. We spent most of our time raiding Bzuriyeh, a shop that sold premium dried fruits, nuts, and spices. Bought more Medjoul, figs, and macadamia. We...

Pilgrimage 2.0-11 : Pretty Petra

Image
Morning mass was celebrated in the hotel function room. Then we set out to Petra . Halfway there we had a toilet stop at a souvenir shop that sold really pretty trinkets, intricate mosaics, and furniture. Then we had a short visit at Wadi Musa , purportedly where Moses struck a stone with his staff and water gushed forth for the thirsty Israelites. The spring was enclosed in a small building, and it was extremely cool inside. Locals come to take water from it. Not too sure about the cleanliness though... I spotted rubbish in the spring. Our lunch stop was at Silk Road Hotel where we had typical Middle Eastern fare with flatbread. From there we headed out to Petra Visitors Centre on foot. Our priest and several who were unfit, stayed back at the hotel. When we arrived at Petra Visitors Centre, the sun was shining brightly. We patiently waited for Sami to settle our tickets which were at USD50 a pop. Petra is actually a large archaeological park, but we only had time t...
