The Day Before Tomorrow

On New Year's Eve, I did not go out to the market. I woke up at about 9:00am and went to have breakfast with mum at one of the nearby kopitiam. A simple breakfast of noodles and coffee. Chatted a bit in the cool morning air. Saw a little girl helping out her mum at the prawn noodles stall. Amazed by the deftness of her little hands in butterflying the blanched prawns. Her eyes did not even need to be on the blade. Every time the knife came close to her hand, I flinched. My awe turned to disgust a minute later when I saw her scratching her itchy scalp with her hands and then later groping through the contents of the bowl looking for unprocessed prawns. Oh la la. At about noon, mum went out to her society meeting while I stayed at home doing some work for my boss. Late Friday evening, I was tasked with coming up with a spurious document that contains phoney screens that proves that our system can provide phoney functionality. Lovely. Finish at about 2:30pm and I went out to eat chicken rice at a nearby shop. Continued lazing at home and watching "万凰之王" on my lappie. At 7:00pm, sis and BIL fetched us out for dinner. Didn't know what to eat, so we just wandered around Bandar Puteri Puchong. Cyan suggested V1 Concept, but we later abandoned that plan once we found out that no ala carte orders were available for the night, only their set dinner that costed MYR80 per person! An interesting restaurant with a sports car theme. The chairs were custom-made bucket seats, there was a sports car inside for decoration and even the waitresses dressed up like GT girls. Since we were rushing for time, we just walked next door to eat at Sin Hup Kee.

Business at the restaurant was quite brisk, so we dared to give it a try. Ordered their house specialties of stir-fried chicken (oily!), mango fish fillet (plenty of garoupa slices at just MYR24!), Yin Yang Kailan (the fried kailan was a bit disappointing) and homemade beancurd over steamed egg (was topped with braised peanuts and minced meat, but the meat had a nauseatingly strong aroma!). Overall, it was value for money and the service was fast. But not all of the dishes were good as you can see from my comments. Got home at just a few minutes shy of 9:00pm and mum and I had to prepare to go out again. This time to church. Bilingual mass started at 10:30pm, but due to kiasu-ness and a fear of a jam on LDP, we went out early. Turns out the roads were clear. Oh well. After mass, there was a countdown and a fireworks display. Oohh-ahh-ing until only the fumes remained. Hot drinks and pastries were also served, so we lingered for a while, joining in the fellowship. By the time we got home, it was already 1:00am. Very much wanted to kiss KH at the stroke of midnight, but I guess that would have to wait until we next meet...
