Would you wait for hours to have Taco Bell? Do you wake up one day and have a deep craving for Mexican food? Guess that was what Teman Taco Bell was experiencing on the day I spotted them at Tropicana Gardens Mall. What do you think they were saying to each other? Was it a conversation about eating jumbo burritos?

Cutiepie and I have celebrated each other's birthdays since our undergraduate days in University Malaya. 2022 is no different, except that there're kids in tow now. I kind of made a mistake of choosing Hoya as the dinner venue. Her kids were shocked by the Korean cuisine!  To normalize the meal for them, we ordered some ramyun ( but it was all spicy ), and rice. One would think that it's easy to get rice, but not at Hoya. Took five requests for the rice to come. The poor kids were starving because the grilled meat and banchan looked so alien to them. The whole dinner felt like a mess. Next year I'll book a table at a nice Chinese restaurant. :D. The kids were still hungry, and the adults were thirsty, so we went to the nearby Uncle Don's . The kids were happy with their soda and French fries ( but truth be told, I don't know how they can screw this up ), while the adults got their cocktails. Blessed birthday to my Sahabat Skandal!

When both of us aren't too busy at work, KH and I go for Friday night dates. KH had been eyeing 8Haus at Jalan Sin Chew Kee for its crispy pork roulade. Jalan Sin Chew Kee is an old neighbourhood located right behind Jalan Galloway ( that's where VCR Cafe is ). The houses there really have an old school feel. Most of the residents had moved out, some of the lots abandoned, and some transformed into commercial lots, like 8Haus and Pahit. As luck would have it, 8Haus was fully-booked that evening! But all was not lost as we were presented with an alternative. On the second floor is a bar called Sin Chew Kee Cold Drinks Store , and we could still order food from 8Haus' mini menu. So up we went.  As expected, the bar was really quiet, and we were given full attention by the crew ( and we had a hunky waiter, but gomenasai, no spycam! ). They specialize in tea-based cocktails. Some pretty interesting stuff in their menu, so it took us a while to choose. I went for the Umami Cockt...

KH made reservations for Joloko after hearing about it from friends. The menu features Caribbean cuisine paired with lots of Tequila and Mezcal. The restaurant seems to be hidden by lush foliage with no obvious signboard out front. We had the Tuna, Crab, and Prawn Ceviche, and followed with Jamaican Jerk Chicken. Delicious food, but a tad too expensive in my opinion. Our dining experience was a little bizarre due to the playlist that was basically male orgasmic sounds.  The day was really hot, so we walked over to Licky Chan & The Poke Guy for ice cream. Another place without an obvious signboard-- just a few rusting letters welded onto a metal fence. Joloko customers could present their receipt for a discount, but KH and I didn't make use of the promotion. :(. Licky Chan offers a unique selection of flavours, both halal and non-halal. It was a Friday night, and KH and I were out in a cafe in Bukit Jalil. Spotted these two young'ns behind the counter. Boys have such unique sense of style these days. Morning walks are usually uneventful. On a lucky morning, I may spot a cutie in sexy sports gear. But it was a bizarre morning at Taman Saujana Hijau because there were a whole bunch of Genshin Impact cosplayers at the European gazebo. No cuties, unfortunately. In the afternoon, KH brought me out for a cafe-hopping expedition in Cheras. Started out at Poppy Kat , a croffle joint on the second floor of a shop lot. Painted floors and tiled walls give it an old school charm. For some reason, both their staff sport the same haircut, and wear the same type of oversized Ts. The Jalapeno ham croffle didn't impress, but the Sitrus Black did. The latter is a cold long black with a good balance of citrus zest. Right at the end of the lot is a single-storey house that was converted into a cafe called Ah Gong House . Probably really someone's grandfather's house as the name implies. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. While having breakfast at Restoran Tuck Tuck Tei at Taman Desa, I spotted Mountain King Mark having his soup noodles with his compression-clad girlfriend. Honestly, he should trade his Akita SANNOH basketball jersey for more compression gear really. His biceps would be wrapped beautifully. He had black tights underneath his shorts ( lose the shorts! ), but its not that obvious from my photo. Don't ever skip breakfast, ya?
