Fish Heads

Image
DAP Seputeh had 3 tonnes of frozen fish heads to distribute, so they organized an event at Muhibbah PPR. The person-in-charge needed an additional photographer, so I was roped in to help. Initially, the plan was to have it at the surau, but they moved it to the food court next door ( IMU volunteers were also there for a vaccine registration drive ). A much better idea since it might get messy. Muhibbah has a notorious parking problem where the residents actually occupy the fast lane of the main access road. Since I had to arrive before 9 AM, finding a parking space was quite challenging. When I arrived, the trucks had just finished unloading the boxes. Each box contained roughly 10kgs of frozen  Amberjack fish heads. DAP members busied themselves with packing the fish into plastic bags, while some others were responsible for ensuring that SOPs were followed. Things started getting busier after Teresa Kok arrived. The distribution wasn't very smooth, and this surprised me because th...

Scuba Shopee

Image
The most interesting things pop-up in my Shopee recommendations: https://shopee.com.my/product/133080358/7129162797?smtt=0.1154822-1621414987.3 Yes folks, Scuba underwear. To me, Scuba underwear is as iconic as the Pagoda T-shirt. I wore those to primary school ( 34 years ago )! But I remember my underwear was ribbed unlike the product listed here. Was Scuba underwear part of your wardrobe while you were growing up? Perhaps I should buy a pair to recreate a childhood look. LOL.

Doctor, Doctor

Image
Some time back, KH had introduced me to Pence, someone who works in the coffee supply industry. We briefly met at La Faro in Happy Garden, but we didn't have the opportunity to chat much. The reason was because Pence was on a blind date that KH had arranged. Anyway, that didn't work out, and today, Pence is happily attached to a doctor ( not matchmade by KH, LOL ). It was Pence's birthday soon, and he wanted to introduce his man, so KH arranged a birthday dinner at Canton Kitchen , Gembira Avenue.  I've been to HQ in Bukit Tinggi, and the branch in Paradigm Mall, but never to this main KL branch. Huge floor space with many private rooms that are styled after Old Malaya. Pence's boyfriend, Smith is a nice guy. No airs. Interaction between Pence and Smith seems quite natural. From my observation, Pence does his best to make Smith happy. For dinner, we shared a huge pot of fish curry, which was quite suitable for the rainy evening.   We did not need to go far for round...

Nissan x Nescafe

Image
In just a few short weeks, I made another trip to the Nissan service center. Not for my car, thank goodness, but for SK's. Ever since her warranty ended, she had not made a trip back to Nissan. According to the DriveOn app, her last service was at the end of 2017. Might as well let them do a diagnostic, as it's much more systematic over there. Judging from what happened to my car, her car should be experiencing similar wear and tear. Worked out of their customer lounge, making good use of their Nescafe machine. From the looks of it, they upgraded the drinks options ( they have black coffee now, but tastes like dishwater ) and hacked the machine to make it 'contact-less'. Just hover your finger over the sensor, if you manage to determine where the sensor is. Many struggle because the sensors are at the top, while they have a big ass that points to the bottom. Throw the original buttons into the equation and you get puzzled customers who just can't seem to get their ...

Can't Be Kanbe

Image
KH wanted to try the ramen at Kanbe , 163 Retail Park, so we had a lunch date there. We arrived at 2 PM, and the queue spanned more than two shop lots. Patiently, we joined the queue. Thankfully, I had something to eat before I came out, else I would have been hangry! Took us about half and hour to snake into the restaurant. In that time, we had decided on our orders. KH chose the Shiro ramen, their signature broth that "makes you want to come back". Pure pork bone. Not wanting something similar, my choice was on the other side of the spectrum~ kohaku tsukemen . The kohaku is combination of pork bone broth and fish stock, and it was served in a hot stone bowl. Since it was used for dipping, the broth was thick to the point of semi-coagulation. Could really taste the dried bonito, mackerel, and sardines. At the start, the waitress sent the wrong bowl of ramen to us. After we had finished taking photos, it was returned to its rightful owner, the lady at the adjacent table. She...
