TSX

I don't usually splurge on underwear. In my book, brand is not that important. It's always about design and comfort. For two years now, I have been receiving newsletters from TOOT  but I never ordered any. When it comes to Japanese underwear, it's always about the expensive price tag and shipping costs. However, TOOT has a unique perk-- they give out birthday points to their members. The points are supposed to expire in a year, but for some reason, I had accumulated two years of points in my account. I had a total of 2,000 points which was equivalent to JPY2,000. Not bad right? But when it comes to TOOT, actually JPY2,000 off isn't that much of a discount. LOL. But since I'm writing this post, it means that I actually bought something from them with those points. Chose the TSX Ultra Micro trunk which cost me a whopping JPY3,600 ( harga sebelum diskaun )!!! Shaved off JPY2,000, but I still had to fork out JPY1,200 for shipping ( but for that price, it did arrive i...

Random Walk-ins

For those of you who kempunan  for kampua noodles, head over to Mian , Aman Suria. This newcomer serves  kampua in a variety of styles-- the traditional dry noodles, prawn noodles and mamak fried noodles. I wouldn't say that the noodles are top notch, but good enough. Just across the road is KONCENT , a Japanese lifestyle store with a cafe. It's not a Muji, it's definitely more of a Tokyu Hands type of place. More arty, more expensive. A great place to have a cup of coffee and read a book. The staff was really friendly and asked us to attend their workshops and "meet the artist" sessions. SK jio -ed us for dinner at Restoran Choy Hi . Ordered a lovely pot of braised pork, tripe and intestines, with dried oysters. A cheap and delicious dish. Goes great with steamed rice. Also got some special grilled lamb ribs, so sticky and tender. Dessert was at Mykori located a few doors away. Their specialty is melons, but they weren't serving any tha...

Birthday Fungus Fighting

On rare occasions when there's too much food in the refrigerator, mum declares that there's no need to go to the wet market. Happy news really as I get to sleep in a bit. After getting up, I can immediately think about breakfast. We went to Bandar Puteri Puchong to eat at Uncle Xian Noodle House , another one of those 'famous' old shops turned cafe. Tried the curry noodles and lam mee . Mum liked the curry, but I hated the  lam mee , The gravy was too effing sweet. But the ramen they used in it had a good texture. Service was excellent and the waitress even took our complaint seriously regarding the taste of the  lam mee . Since I was in Bandar Puteri Puchong, I used the opportunity to get a replacement cartridge for the leaky faucet in my kitchen. Never knew that the colour of the cartridge actually denoted the clockwise or anti-clockwise direction of the faucet. Red and blue. Hot and cold. I got it wrong for one or two taps at home, so they operate in reverse m...

Eeee! Babi!

It's not every day that you see characters from "Journey to the West" at the LRT station. Here's a photo of Tang Sanzang having a smoke with his eldest disciple, Sun Wukong . "EEEEEEEEEEeeeeeeeeee! Babi!!!". Oh wait, that's Zhu Bajie being interviewed a couple of people. I hope they won't have to samak the station due to this. This was actually a Teochew opera that was part of Arts on the Move (AOTM) Kuala Lumpur. AOTM by ThinkCity aims to rejuvenate urban spaces with the arts to create a more livable environment for all.

Party at Pampas

Every year, Cutiepie will make the time to celebrate my birthday. This year, it was on a Friday night after work. KH and I walked over to her office building. As luck would have it, before she could leave work, her boss threw a bitch fit and pulled her into a meeting. There was nothing we could do but wait. At least there was a Starbucks at the lobby where we could chill and sip an Asia Dolce Latte. By the time Cutiepie came down, she looked a bit drained. Thought it was due to work, but it was actually something more sinister. Anyway, she drove us to the dinner venue-- Pampas @ Old Malaya . Something new for me. Some genius had transformed a whole row of pre-war shophouses into restaurants with much character ( but little parking ). Disaster struck when we reached the restaurant-- Cutipie had started feeling nauseous. Several times she rushed to the toilet to vomit. The culprit was probably the lunch at Reggae Mansion ( avoid! ). In her condition, she only managed some hot w...

B-36

I celebrated my 36th birthday on Sunday, the 9th of October. Went to church as usual and lunched nearby. A new café offering East coast delicacies had popped up at Sunwaymas, so we decided to give it a try. The name of the place was Cafe Kesom , but they had not put up their main signboard. I kept seeing Blook Warehouse. Like Capital Nasi Dagang in Damansara Uptown, this place has a Chinese proprietor and serves Kelantanese food. Kesom uses a self-service approach where you are given a tray and you cherry pick whatever add-ons you desire. Unfortunately, the counter is too short and the checkout too slow for such an implementation. To gauge the authenticity of the place, we ordered the two classic dishes-- Nasi Dagang and Nasi Kerabu . One bite of the Nasi Dagang and my taste buds could not detect a single percentage of Nasi Dagang in it. Tasted all wrong. Couldn't detect the taste of fenugreek. To make matters worse, the rice was soft. The basic Nasi Dagang also doesn...

MP & YTF

OUG's multi-level wet market finally opened its doors. DBKL christened it The Market Place . I can now proudly tell people that I go to MP every week! The new market has much needed basement parking, toilets, and two floors of market retail space. The ground floor is reserved for vegetables, fruits, poultry, meat, and garden plants while the first floor is for dry groceries and other products. Above that is OUG Jade Restaurant which looks really posh. Recently they had some drama on FB where they openly had a war of words with a disgruntled customer. On the top floor is an indoor badminton court. On the ground floor, a drain runs through the middle of all the walkways. The drains have metal covers so the whole market rings with the sound of feet tramping on the metal plates. Wonder what hearing to that day in, day out does to a person. On a separate note, Bersih 5 T-shirts had also started to appear at the market. Felt like ages since I serviced my Iswara Skyline. I was not s...
