Second Three

Image
Planned to watch "Three" with mum and SK on Sunday but it took me quite a while to find a suitable cinema. All the GSC cinemas in Petaling Jaya had screening times close to 4:00 PM which was too late. In the end, I chose to buy tickets at IOI City Mall which is 30 KM from church. IOI City Mall was full of shoppers. Never had I seen the walkways so full of people. Some eateries were at full capacity although it was the fasting month. Lunch was a quick affair at Sakae Sushi . Quickly ate and left the fishy smelling restaurant. "Three" wasn't what I expected. Can't help but feel cheated by the trailer. The whole plot never leaves the hospital where the three main protagonists interact-- Louis Khoo who plays a stressed police inspector, Zhao Wei who plays a stressed neurosurgeon and Wallace Chung who plays the part of the intelligent and sociopathic criminal. The story starts out pretty slow but things speed up towards the end. They even threw in a Quick

Monkeys & Mermaids

Monday's failure to secure movie tickets made me double my efforts on the second day of CNY. Scanned all nearby cinemas and found that my best bet was Nu Sentral! Found a suitable time slot and purchased 4 tickets for "Mermaid" . Arrived with some time to spare so we walked around a bit. The CNY decorations there were a little different. There was a bell tower, a taiko  drum ( kept thinking there was a lion dance going on ), a gazebo with giant ink brushes ( looked more like brooms ), a pavilion with a golden monkey and a lover's bridge. Before going into the hall, SK bought some keropok lekor from Leko-Leko . Saw some variations with black pepper sauce and cheesy-mayo. Abominations! Surprisingly the latest movie from Stephen Chow was rather entertaining. Funny parts here and there with a 'decent' enough plot. But perhaps it was because I didn't have any expectations. The characters weren't annoying and the CGI was pretty good. When we exited th

The Force Awakens

On the 30th of December, KH took leave to service his car and spend time with me. To simplify logistics, he sent his car to the Honda service center at Taman Equine in the morning. Compared to the service consultants at Nissan, the people at Honda don't seem too experienced. Once KH dropped off his car, we went off hunting for breakfast. Packed some noodles and nasi lemak  from Restoran Shui San  nearby. Spied a stall with a sign that reeked of Google Translate. We ate at my sister's house with my mum and the monsters. A very lively affair. At around 10:30 AM, we went back to my house to pick up some stuff. But that turned into a quickie sex session. Kinda messed with our schedule because we had a movie to catch at IOI City Mall at noon. We made it just in time to watch "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" . Not a bad movie really and the title is really apt. Its about awakenings, though a bit too convenient. And I'm not very fond of the angst-y villain. Exited

VCR

Every end of the year I have leave that must be cleared lest it be forfeited. Employees are only allowed to carry forward 20 days of annual leave to the following year. Yes, I have that much annual leave. Hehe. KH and I took a day off on Monday to spend the time together. Joining the rush hour crowd, we boarded the LRT to Hang Tuah station. Made our way to VCR Cafe  because of its early opening hours. At first I was a bit confused by the directions from Google Maps but I finally understood the convoluted route after experiencing it firsthand. Amazing that Google Maps can properly map pedestrian walkways and crossings. Just a short walk and we arrived at the cafe. At that hour, there were people already comfortably ensconced at their tables, sipping coffee. KH and I moved upstairs to share a big breakfast. For MYR34, one gets slice of bread with two eggs ( mine were poached to perfection ), two yummy sausages, tomatoes on the vine, sauteed mushrooms, stewed beans and beef bacon ( turk

Selamat San Andreas

Image
Bought tickets to watch "San Andreas" with mum on Sunday. It was a B1F1 ticket thanks to HSBC credit cards ( the only benefit that is useful for me ). But whatever I saved on the movie ticket I used to pay for parking. Wanted to park at the shopping mall, but it was darn crowded. Parked at One World Hotel instead. Lunch was at Ichiro Sushi Bar . So difficult to order. Not many good lunch sets and the ala carte stuff were mostly premium. nigiri sushi averaged at RM10 per piece. San Andreas was pretty entertaining from start till end. But the survival of the Gaines family throughout the whole ordeal was very far-fetched. And I couldn't really accept Paul Giamatti as the CalTech earthquake expert. Due to his distinct voice, I can't shake his villainous persona Hertz from "Shoot 'em Up" . Didn't actually buy anything our whole time in One Utama although the Raya sales were in full swing. The decoration at the Centre Court seemed pretty low key. T

Sweat It Out

Can't believe that I had not been to the OUG wet market for more than a month. My revisit rewarded me with jambu seller with big arms. In the coming weeks, I shall endeavour to get a spycam shot of him to share here. Wish me luck! Brought mum to Hawker Street KL for an asam laksa breakfast. She loved it. On the other hand, I gave the white curry noodles a try. Although it wasn't a recommended item on the menu, I found it quite delicious. On our way home, we passed by Faber Towers. Surprised to see that the building was given a makeover. There's an upmarket supermarket there now called De Market. A nice place to buy fruits, vegetables and imported groceries. The selection is impressive but not quite the level of B.I.G. By the time we got home, it was already noon. I had a booty call at KH's place while his parents were out to a wedding lunch. Hehe. Got to his place before 1:00 PM and we freshened up together. The first thing I asked for was the dildo that he had

Find My Dad

Image
Due to her connections, mum got some free preview tickets to the movie "Find My Dad" / "平平安安". The event was organized by Asia Tropical Films and among the invitees were Semarak Kasih Selangor, Malaysian Spring Single Mother’s Society and Beautiful Gate Foundation for The Disabled. Even YB Teresa Kok was there to lend her support for the local film industry. Euho is the director with a mix actors and actresses from several countries. The star is Mini Bin from Taiwan who plays the kid who is looking for his dad. Jeanette Aw from Singapore's The Little Nyonya plays his mother, while Yise Loo ( Malaysian singer ) plays his aunt. And throw in Victor Wong of Michael & Victor fame and Hong Kong's Hayu to complete the rojak . Before the movie started, they warned us that it was a tear-jerker. Some parts of the plot were a bit far-fetched, but there were some funny moments. Some parts of the movie was filmed around Old Klang Road, so it was fun for me to spot

CNY Zombies

Image
The morning market had mellowed down with CNY at its tail end. Qing Ming had even started appearing on the shelves. And best of all, Jaguar Lim's ( self-professed future world star ) movie "Zombies vs the Lucky Exorcist" had a publicity stunt at the market. Too bad I missed seeing Chinese 'vampires' jumping in front of kopitiam s. The business owners must be thrilled to have such an auspicious thing happen. In case you don't know, Jaguar Lim is the boss of Country Tid Bits & Candies Conttage. Back when you were a student, you might have loitered at his shop in Midvalley Megamall or the Genting Skyway base station, eating free samples of preserved fruit to your heart's delight. Brought mum out to Midvalley Megamall after finishing our morning chores. Ate at Nichinan Jidoriya , a relatively new establishment there. They had a pretty good set for two. Only MYR68++ for salmon sashimi , gyoza , shabi-shabu , volcano roll, chicken teppanyaki , sal

Singapore Meet & Greet

We were supposed to have brunch with Tater at Cocotte on Saturday but that turned out to be a wild goose chase. Similar to what happened when Tater brought me to Tanglin Mall some weeks ago. Walking past two Hotel 81's ( that kind of place ), we finally arrived at Wanderlust Hotel ( a heritage building with very hipster interior decoration ), where the restaurant is situated. Firstly, it wasn't gonna be open for another hour. Secondly, they only have a buffet for weekend brunch. At SGD50++ per head, we ran as fast as we could. Tater brought us to Lowercase in La Salle School of Arts. Although I passed by that place numerous times, I never noticed the existence of that food joint! Huge, airy space perfect for parties. And if you have kids, dump them at the inflatable castle at the lower floor. Quite convenient. On weekends, they serve items from two menus, the extra menu being from Bookshop Cafe on Clarke Quay. And I nearly brought home their order pager. Usually i
