First Roar

CNY Mass 2022

Chinese New Year Mass was reinstated in the Year of the Tiger, after a pause caused by the pandemic. The liturgy was pretty much the same, except for the limited seating, and SOPs. The seat registration ran out faster than a BTS concert. Thankfully, I was part of the Hospitality Ministry, so I was guaranteed a place. Not so hectic like years past as some things were scaled down, with the exception for the decorations. Someone sponsored a few hundred outdoor electric lanterns, and the CNY centerpiece that the BECs set up outside the church entrance had to be redone because a freak storm mad a mess of things. For the first time, the Archbishop of Kuala Lumpur celebrated the CNY mass at my church.

Just like the CNY mass, Apollo's CNY lunch was also brought back. However, Apollo's mum did a hotpot version instead of her usual dishes. There were some special ingredients like her homemade century egg dumplings, and yu fu. Lovely to be able to gather for CNY again. Missed the physical connections. The weather was also sweltering, so we went out looking for a cafe at SS2. The only place that was open on the first day of CNY was BawangChaJi. And so ngam we bumped into DietMehLa there. Been interacting with him on Facebook for years, and that was the first time I ever met him in person. Here's to a roaring new year!
