Exploring New Markets
On Sunday morning, mum and I went out to Taman Tasik Titiwangsa for a walk around the park. Arrived before 7 AM, so there was still ample parking along Jalan Temerloh. I misunderstood KH, so he was parked at another side. As the name suggests, it's a park around a lake, and its a big ass lake. Separated into the East Lake, and West Lake, both are connected via a short canal with a couple of bridges. The ecosystem of the lake seems well-maintained as efforts were taken to plant reeds, and other aquatic plants. The water was so clear that one could easily make out the fishes in it. In comparison, Taman Bukit Jalil's ponds are like overcrowded muddy aquaculture ponds.
The park is well-organized with clear paths for runners and cyclists. But Malaysians don't really care for such things. Haha. We'd be all over the paths. In places like Stanley Park, one could easily get run over by cyclists or roller-bladers. Overall, we didn't quite like this park due to the lack of greenery, and the crowd. Some parts of the park were messier than others, especially near the main entrance (West Lake) which has a high concentration of bicycle rental shops, and food trucks. For a more pleasant experience, stick to the East Lake.
Been a while since I sampled Santa's fluffy chapatis, so when I heard that there was a branch nearby, we made a beeline for it. The branch was small, but the quality of the food was up to par. Our food hunt didn't end there. KH wanted to try the famous nasi lemak at Pasar Raja Bot. Pasar Raja Bot is truly a hidden gem in the city center. The place seems frozen in time with its old school architecture and urban decay. As you can imagine, the parking situation there is also fantastic. The stall is located in the food court area that's home to many sleepy mini kopitiams. Took us at least thirty minutes to get a couple of packs of their nasi lemak with curry pork. Actually, their specialty is nasi lemak with Hakka fried pork!
