KH Turns 40

The second Wednesday of March was KH's 40th birthday. I took a day off to spend time with him on his special day. Started the day off with some fooling around at home. He was turned on by my choice of a STUD jockstrap. Turning 40 didn't dampen his libido as well. After that rare jockstrap sex session, we went to Aurora Place to collect my multi-focals. Handed over my spectacles to the optician and waited for him to switch the lenses. Fifteen minutes later, he came out with bad news. He had cut the lenses, and fitted the left lens. While trying to complete the job, the right side cracked! Ack. He scrambled to find a similar frame and thank goodness that the first pair he picked out was a perfect fit, and I actually liked the design. Phew! The frame was complimentary. By the time everything was settled, it was already time for late lunch. 

My hubby is a big Penang Char Kway Teow junkie, so didn't mind going somewhere far for a good plate of it. We drove all the way to Sungai Long, to try the CKT at Secret Penang Cafe. Because it was already late, we were the only customers in the shop. Ordered a plate duck egg CKT and some lobak. To me, it was pretty good. The portion was generous, with enough wok hei. KH remarked that the style was 'close' to Penang style. For anything more authentic he'd have to make a trip up north. 

From there on, we started an afternoon of croissant hopping. Started off at Project Happiness in Balakong. Right on the cover of the menu was their salted egg yolk croissant. But it was a little weird that we ate it with chocolate ice cream (they ran out of vanilla). To be honest, Project Happiness' feature item isn't the star they make it out to be. Don't expect the plating you see in the photo. Haha. The texture is not super, but there's really quite a lot of filling. Unfortunately, I didn't really taste much salted egg yolk in there. 

The next cafe on our list was actually Flos Cotidie. Gave them a call and they replied that they had no available slot for us. Too bad then. Plan B was Core by The Mechanic, somewhere in Connaught. We were greeted at the door by a fair cutie who was so soft-spoken that KH asked him to speak up. When I walked in, I couldn't really relate what I was seeing with the photos I saw in Google Maps. A good photographer can really catch the best angles. The cutie took our order and when setting the cutlery, I noticed that he had long fingers adorned a lot of rings. Think he shops at Lovisa. Most reviewers recommended their sourdough croissant, so we gave that a try. The croissant was visually-appealing, and I loved the crispy texture. But I don't know about the sourdough bit. 

We stayed till closing time, and slowly made our way to Sri Petaling. Killed some time at Mr DIY before heading to Juugatsu Ten for dinner. Thank goodness I made a reservation because it was a full house on a Wednesday night. Even with a reservation, we had to wait a good ten minutes before they got our table ready. On their website, they claim to be the biggest Japanese restaurant in Sri Petaling, but I think they weren't operating at full capacity yet. Food was pretty good. KH could never resist ootoro and chutoro when he seems them on the menu. The unagi chawanmushi was silky smooth and was infused with the flavour of the eel. Thumbs up for the salt grilled hamachi collar as well-- so moist. A sister sitting at an adjacent table gave us a big smile as he was leaving with his family. Guess we were too 'obvious' at the dinner table.

After dinner, we walked around a bit Bandar Baru Sri Petaling. Didn't realize that on KH's birthday, KTVs and massage parlours were given the green light to operate. No wonder there were crowds outside Loudspeaker and Superstar. And I even managed to spy a cutie who had just finished his massage at Thai Best. 

The last stop for the night was Yee's Yoghurt at The Store. It was actually our first time having a yoghurt drink. Quite expensive really, although they claim its from Australia. MYR16.90 for a cup of taro yoghurt. Anyway, the main reason was too support KH's hairdresser who was working there part time. A long day, but it was really fun because I got to spend it with my hubby.
