Christmas 2020 Presents

Covid-19 really did throw a damper on Christmas. No joyful caroling. No Christmas Vigil mass where the Baby Jesus is placed into the manger. No Christmas morning mass. Be that as it may, we didn't forgo the Christmas tradition of opening gifts on Christmas morning. Still managed to pile the gifts high this year, and generate a whole lot of waste paper from the wrapping. Recycled and reclaimed whatever we could. Although we couldn't physically be at church, there were still online masses, and the church compiled a video of Christmas caroling and greetings, contributed by the various church ministries and groups.

King of Pork Chop Ramen

The Tribe stayed on till lunch. Deciding on a lunch venue is never easy. Sis would look at me. And I would look back at her. But I suddenly remembered Super Ramen, a ramen restaurant in Sri Petaling that KH recently mentioned. When we arrived, they had no tables for us. No problem, we loitered at the nearby huge-ass Family Mart. Unlike the usual Family Marts, this branch has an indoor dining area. Grabbed a couple of sofutos by redeeming my AirAsia BIG Loyalty (no where to fly to hor?) points and slowly roamed the shelves.

Mango Ramen

Half an hour later, we were seated in the restaurant. Must say that they serve interesting fusion ramen. Little Monster enjoyed his King of Pork Chop Ramen, with a pork chop nearly as big as his plump face. Great if you like pork, but I didn't like the taste of the soup. Big Monster went for the Katsu Curry Ramen-- nice, but I feel that they could be a little bit more generous with the curry. Mum and I shared a bowl of spicy kimchi pork ramen, which in my opinion was well-balanced. To close, we ordered the supremely weird mango ramen which was actually strips of mango jelly noodles in a soup of thick coconut milk, embellished with an ice cream egg, and caramelized bacon. Pretty, but didn't jive well.

Yeah lo, didn't go there with me.

You are definitely a very critical eater -- holding restaurants to a high standard! Sound like a good meal overall.

@RB:

I remembered years ago when I still had this X'mas gifts exchange, I would wrap all the gifts with old newspapers with ribbons and painted them with poster paints some Santa icons. The recipients loved it.
