Sunday at Cyber

The Botanist

KH alerted me to the existence an Instagrammable place in Cyberjaya called Tamarind Square. In today's market, it's not enough to serve good food, have good variety, or sell something that is special, the architecture and design of the venue must also be attractive. The place is actually just a little down the road from D'Pulze if you're familiar with the area. When I turned in, I realized that they do not collect parking fees, and the place still looked to be under construction.  According to the website, Tamarind Square is an attempt at "reinventing the village charm" with an urban village concept. Community meets commercial meets arts and culture. Reminds me of an episode of South Park.

The design is a meld of Malaysia shophouse, shopping mall, and village square. All connected with bare concrete, steel, and greenery. Brought to you by the same people behind PJ Trade Centre. We emerged from the parking lot right at the so-called village square. Retail space pop up from grassy knolls in the form of concrete treehouses. Occupancy wasn't high. Right beside it was a mall with Village Grocer and Book Excess as its main tenants. Numerous blocks of inter-connected shop-offices surround the square, with trees and flowering creepers providing shade and aesthetics. A good concept, but as usual the Malaysian weather far from ideal.

Treehouse

The Botanist is a popular family-run cafe at Tamarind Square. It's located at one of the treehouses, surrounded by lush greenery. Sit outside on the wooden lawn chairs, under a parasol, and enjoy experience. The banana bread went really well with their flat white.

Nasi Lemak McD

In the evening, mum actually suggested that we go have Nasi Lemak McD for dinner! Ordered from their self-service kiosk. In my zeal of trying to avoid the fecal matter on their touch screens, I forgot to apply the promotional code. Conclusion: eat nasi lemak elsewhere. LOL.

I went there several times but never got down from my car. It looked like a haunted place for Hantu Kak Limah's movie. The developer is sucks with the failure at PJ Trade Center and soon to be Empire City Damansara.
