Sinful Xin and Chocolate-y Coffee

Cheen Tui

Mum, KH, and I ventured to KL's Golden Triangle to have a dim sum breakfast at Xin Cusine, Concorde Hotel. Heard good things about it, so decided to give it a try. Not very common in Malaysia for a hotel to serve pork in its restaurant. Parking is a bit weird at Concorde Hotel with a separate multi-level car park located behind the hotel. Basically guests have to traverse the 'back alley' and 'service routes' to get to the hotel proper. Xin Cuisine is looks like a very traditional banquet hall, complete with golden dragons crawling up the columns. Very much like Melia Hotel. Not much of a crowd, but could guess that many of the tables were occupied by regulars. They serve cart style dim sum, a dying practice. My favourite items were the wu kok, cheen tui, and HK CCF!

Ramen Set

Then we were off to Pavilion for a short jalan-jalan session. Tokyo Street was all decked out for Tanabata. Ate lunch there too-- ramen at Santouka. Sigh, the ramen was such a far cry from the branch in Vancouver. Once we were done shopping at Pavilion, we made a short visit to Lot 10. Ended up at Hutong for a kopi and egg tart stop before heading home.

Ayam Buah Keluak

SK jio-ed for dinner in Taman Desa. Her ex-colleague highly-recommended the food and desserts at Big Baba, so she was very excited. Turned out to be a bit of an exaggeration. They do have signature Peranakan dishes like Ayam Buah Keluak (which is notoriously difficult to prepare), but I don't really like it. The cendol was mediocre. On a positive note, it has a nice retro interior and the staff are extremely friendly.

Chocolate Bottle Opener

We weren't done for the day. Moved on to Since 18's for coffee and chocolate. Got ourselves two sets of coffees which came with a piece of artisanal chocolate. The rose latte naturally came with a rose, but SK's mocha was paired with her custom request-- a bottle opener. Go check out their full collection of every day items made out of chocolate.

I hated this parking lot behind Concorde Hotel. It wasn't like this previously when it was another hotel.
Hutong is my top favourite to take MRT from home to its door step.
