Sirih Pulang Ke Gagang II : Kuat Makan Kuantan

On Sunday morning, we attended mass at St. Thomas Church, while Gratitude went to have a leisurely breakfast at Kuantan Kopitiam (the sign is so faded that you will never guess its name). He picked us up after mass ended, and we went back to Kuantan Kopitiam! At that late hour, the place was quite chaotic and crowded. Thanked our lucky stars that we bumped into Kit there. He had just finished eating, so we took the table he vacated. SK swears by the curry noodles there. For his second round, Gratitude wanted kaya butter toast, but they had surprisingly run out of bread. Stock was so low, that some people didn't even get their curry noodles, causing temperatures to rise.



Once we had finished eating, we went to Chen Hing to buy dried seafood products. A short distance from the shop in Jalan Besar is Kuantan's latest attraction~ Laman Teruntum. Its a waterfront of sorts along Sungai Kuantan, with Mercu Teruntum observation tower as its focal point. The tower isn't open yet, but one can see the KUANTAN sign on the Tanjung Lumpur side. Took some photos but didn't stay long because it was hot as heck. Spotted Kula Cakes across the road, a bakery that actually has queue outside for its mango cheesecake. Was told that its not a big deal.







To cool down, we ventured to Mustafa Cendol. From a humble stall underneath a tree, it has grown into a large restaurant. Not as good as yesterday's cendol, but I was happy as long as it was cold. Mum and Gratitude had facial appointments at Kit's wife's beauty salon, while SK and I went to Muar-e Kopitiam to meet up with some ex-Sixers and a couple of teachers. Tried the famous coffee and wholemeal toast there. The more we talked, the more I realized that my ex-inorganic chemistry teacher is very funny and laid back. Guess teachers project a very different character when standing in front of a classroom.





In the evening, Mr and Mrs Y invited us for dinner at Restoran Hock Hin, for our Foochow favourites. She had pre-ordered red wine residuum chicken, oyster omelette, and the signature deep-fried threadfin. Next was a yumcha session at Cafe 70 Degrees. Had a chai latte, dragonfruit sorbet, and eggette. A pretty nice place to chill.







Back at the homestay, SK and I had our own facial treatment with the Nu Skin Galvanic Spa. Nothing like a relaxing self-pampering session.
