Happy Father's Day

Chicken Sou

On Father's Day, mum and I went lepak-ing at Paradigm Mall. Had a simple meal of chicken hor fun at Nam Heong. Was a bit flabbergasted that their tiny chicken sou actually costs RM3.80. Spiderman was roaming around the mall as part of some cosplay thing, but it wasn't Eric Lau Lofstedt.

Stopped by at Starbucks to use my comp drink. Used it for a seasonal drink (maximum value!)~ dark caramel frap with coffee sphere. Starbucks' answer to Koi's golden bubble. Truth be told, it was good. Not sickly sweet at all. And the coffee spheres were delicious. I actually finished that whole drink. Well, the drink was great, and so was the view. Starbucks Shin was sitting opposite me the whole time. Such a cutie. Perfect for those who like a good matcha latte.

SK jio-ed us for dinner at Yuen Yuen, Taman Kinrara but I told her to avoid Chinese restaurants like the plague. Never a good idea to venture to such places during Father's Day. We ate at Day 9 Kitchen instead, a two shop lot cafe at Equine Park that specializes in bagels. They pride themselves in making everything from scratch, from the pastry to the sauces.

Spicy Chicken Bagel

We had the bagel with spicy chicken which totally changed my perception of bagels as evil tough pastry. I have CBTL to thank for that misconception. The bagels from Day 9 Kitchen are soft and fluffy, a delight to eat. Also tried the tamagoyaki which was OK, but the aglio olio pasta with pork corn was a failure. There was something wrong with the oil. The wrap kosong was also good, but something more suited for breakfast.

With so much food, we still went crazy with the dessert and drinks. Their cheesecake is just lovely with is its caramelized sugar top. The form factor also makes it really easy to eat. Drinks-wise I ordered the hojicha latte while SK tried the sea salt oolong. The former is a much better choice. The interior is not very well decorated. No focal point and they have a half-hearted dinosaur theme going on, with no relation to their overall concept. Just go there for the food.
