Quackery

One of my colleagues recently went to a traditional Chinese medicine practitioner to get his back pain looked at. The usual stuff-- acupuncture and herbal concoctions. When he first sat down with the quack:

Quack: You got a problem right?

Colleague: Err.... yeah.

Quack: If now no problem, next time also sure got problem!

You're so awed by that statement, right? >_<"

And the best thing is, he signed up for a course of treatments there.

Geez, I've never trusted non-MDs (not even chiropractors), and I probably never will.

Some people just subscribe faithfully to traditional medicine that may be not evidence based(research) even if they are educated and well informed. My Prince Charming is one of them. Lol. I think some treatment may have it's basis, or it wouldn't have survived until the modern times.

p/s: I'm awed with the quack's statement, also awed with your colleague.

@Evann:
Even Chiropractors? Huhu. Sometimes, MDs are just too callous.

@BBear:
But I seriously doubt needles can alleviate bone problems.

@SJ:
For certain things I guess. It's just that most times, serious things get delayed treatment for the wrong reasons.

@L2:
Har. I dunno wor.

@Jan:
My colleague seems uncertain. A MRI would have cleared any doubts about a slipped disc of fractured vertebra.

@LittleD:
They're perfect for each other.

@Nicky:
I've never tried acupuncture.

@CCat:
It's like telling him, "you're gonna die, if not today, then next year."

I do believe in acupuncture, but not so much the acupuncturists here. I wouldn't mind doing treatment with a good acupuncturists.
