Zoom!
Zoom! is the stupid campaign started by Tourism Malaysia to encourage
more people to have local holidays and increase foreign tourist
arrivals. One of their approaches include putting up posters in STAR
LRT cars, and boy, are those posters ugly and uninformative. I think a
lower secondary kid with Adobe Photoshop 6 could have done better.
They lack focus with poor composition, horrible choice of photos,
lousy picture quality and lack of cropping skills. For Frasers hill
they can just zoom on some random field with a few flower and expect
tourists to go wow? Other posters featuring eco-tourism merely
showcase some random riverbank and it just looked like an
anti-pollution poster. Good God! Lets go cuti-cuti Malaysia!

The posters you saw were most probably awarded to a crony local company. That's why the Ministry is currently being investigated by MACC.
Good observation dude! ^_^
+Ant+
But it's like a rare gem lah. Incompetent people running around in government.
i shot this shit ya know??
its actually my company who did it and i followed....
i had 13 days of fuckin shoot and this is what you say??
awww mannn...
its fugly. anything by the government is ugly. nuff said.
and hor, local holidays are shit.. going overseas is cheaper anytime.
Never seen the overseas ads. To avoid embarrassment surely they would have done a better job. The MACC thing entah apa hal la. But what is for sure is that it wasn't very well done.
@JJ:
Incompetent. Inefficient.
@Nase:
Let's berjoget!
@Famil:
Lol, I must look out for that one. I just noticed monorail also got. But those are better cause the space not so big.
@Jase:
Dunno la. Dunno how those posters got approved.
@TZ:
Not I visited first meh? :P
@Darren:
I think overbudget. :P
@Zoom:
I'm sorry that I was so brutally honest. Perhaps the photos you took were good. Perhaps it was the graphic designer that botched up. I dunno why the designer needed to zoom in so much on some photos. Perhaps he didn't have enough photos to work with? If you look closely, the photos were not of high enough resolution to be printed up to those sizes. And salient features in the photos were covered. They were unrepresentative. Some posters merely advertised the fact that Malaysia has "highland resorts", "beaches", "forests". What's the point of that? It is just my personal opinion. Cheers.
@Takashi:
And I just saw something in the papers today saying that travelling locally was cheaper. lol
@JL:
We definitely don't know enough about our own country. I understand their point to advertise, just that it was done poorly.
@Derek:
Itu budget approved last year la. :P
