Korban Demi Syarikat: The Sequel

Image
Breakfast Balls , swiped from williamnyk on Flickr. Work reared its ugly head again and I found myself in office on Friday midnight. Went home earlier at 3:00 pm to try to get some sleep. But the best I could manage was ninety minutes. Yawned and yawned while I was driving to the data centre. Go figure. The whole village was there to support the roll-out. The end-of-day process ended at about 1:30 am and they brought down the whole system after that. Sad to say that one of my deployment scripts had an authority problem and we had to use a workaround to make it work. By 3:00 am, all objects had been migrated and we decided to go to a mamak in Sungei Way while waiting for the start-of-day process at 4:30 am. Just had a cup of teh tarik and roti telur . Bitched about the current turmoil in the company and the shitty way that management does things. So sick of them playing the blame game ( they have yet to blame their problems as an act of God though ) even when its so obvious that thei

Sunday with Little Monster (Cafe Celebrities: Sailor Shin)

Image
Goku Raku Ramen , swiped from williamnyk on Flickr. My sister had to OT again on Sunday, so she offloaded Little Monster on mum and I. Thankfully, she took Big Monster along with her to work. Without his mum around, Little Monster tends to be mellower and less manja . He was quite well-behaved at church. Just the usual ass-can't-sit-on-the-pew syndrome. Brought him to Coffee Sprex after mass. When the barista saw me, she immediately signed an 'L' and I just nodded. The usual. Haha. Met the co-owner of the establishment. She explained to me that she ran a programme of eighteen months to train the deaf and mute to run the business. Her first project was at Damansara Perdana for Cafe Aloha. She took a liking to Little Monster and gave an accurate assessment of his age and character. Gave him a butter cookie, but he was too shy to eat it. To make life easier, lunch was at Paradigm Mall again. This time round we went straight up to the top-most floor for Goku Raku Ramen . T

An Ear for Love

Image
Leland and Frank , swiped from Tobyotter on Flickr. Ended up at the market on Saturday, so I had to reject Grat's invitation for breakfast at Kota Kemuning. For some reason, it was quite quiet that day. The crowds were missing. Whatever the case, it will pick up soon with CNY coming. Same old, same old at the market. The siew yuk seller had his radio on full blast and was belting out "The Great Pretender". The vegetable seller was telling an animated story about the theft of fifty ringgit notes from a fellow vendor. Tried the new restaurant at OUG-- Kopitan Penang . Large and air-conditioned, it had more staff than customers. People are averse to paying cafe prices at a wet market area perhaps. Bet they do better business at night. Selected their CKT, prawn noodles and kaya butter toast. All three were acceptable by cafe standards. Better than Old Town even. Had to babysit again as my sister had to help out at the factory. Thankfully she brought Big Monster along with h

The Machine Giveth

Image
Diebold , swiped from zieak on Flickr. It was the the end of the month, so I dutifully walked into a local bank's self service branch to help my brother perform installment payment on his housing loan. Like usual, I would withdraw money from his Singapore account using the interlinked ATM card that he provided me. I used one of the newer machines-- the DIEBOLD instead of the SIEMENS NIXDORF. I withdrew the maximum MYR1000 and waited for the machine to finish its whirring and clunking. To my surprise, when the money came out of the slot, it was in a mess! Not in the expected neat stack of cash. Some notes faced the wrong direction and there were even stray notes that were folded. Practically had wrestle the stack of money out of the machine. Geez. Since the fire insurance was also due, I withdrew another MYR1000 with the same disorganized results. I pocketed that second stack of cash. Next, I walked over to the cash deposit machine and stuffed the two stacks of cash in. More whirri

Follow Up to Melaka

Image
Go, Be MyWitnesses , swiped from williamnyk on Flickr. As a follow up to the previous day's migration exercise into the production environment, I went into my client's data centre at 4:30 am on Saturday to ensure that the previous day's migration didn't screw things up. Well, it didn't, so this post will be on a pleasant note. :D. Left about an hour later. Felt terribly hungry so stopped at Restoran Rishadh for a tosai garing and teh tarik . Didn't sleep when I got home as I was supposed to leave for a day trip to Melaka at 7:30 am. The whole thing was organized by my BEC as part of our yearly activities cum pilgrimage. Met up at Seri Petaling where the bus was already waiting for us. Been ages since I took a bus and that old school bus was quite rickety. Hin . Handled the registration while the bus was moving, going from seat to seat getting names and NRIC numbers. Felt like a steward training for turbulence. For MYR25 per pax, we also got two bottles of min

Surfboard , swiped from williamnyk on Flickr. Late Friday evening, my client surprised me with a last minute program migration to production. Bah. And I was supposed to leave on time that day for my paktor session with KH. Since it was urgent ( performance tweak for impending high volume transactions ), I had no choice but to prepare the necessary documentation and approval. The celaka thing was, the bosses had already left work and I needed to get an endorsement via e-mail. Ended up calling the project manager, who was the most pening of the lot. Managed to settle everything by 7:30 pm. Luckily KH never lou gai . Very understanding BF. Hehe. Our dinner venue was Koryori Enoshima , formerly known as Ozeki Italian. Same boss. Same staff. Just different name, different interior, partially different menu. They basically stained the whole interior with white paint. Very woody. A surfboard features prominently on the wall. Too bad no Surf Surf Revolution waiters. One thing irked me thou

Bedroom Bucket List

Image
James Huntsman gay , swiped from reinhardkrickelberg on Flickr. Note: What do you know... just in time for the new year! Some considerations for my sex life as recommended by a couple of well-meaning friends: ThompsonBoy - Speedo sex - I'm guessing that it involves having sex in swim trunks. KH and I should don the skimpiest of swim trunks and when it comes to penetration, KH should just just whip out his hard cock from the side of the pouch. As for me, KH would either push the material to the side to access my chute, OR just partially remove the trunks, leaving it one leg. Perhaps he meant f*cking in the pool. For reference, I'll need to dig out some Japanese athlete, poolside or beach porn. ChatMate - Jockstrap sex - According to him, it's a shame that an underwear king like myself does not own a pair of jockstraps. It's the perfect underwear for bottoms. Just need to raise my legs and voila, easy access ( not to my dick though )! Any suggestions on what brand I sh

Ramen Ranter

Image
Gomoku Ramen -五目ラーメン- , swiped from spazio_space on Flickr. QueerRanter was in town for some kind of meeting ( his company doesn't seem to know about teleconferencing, so they fly him in and out ), so a BFF meet-up was arranged in town. The organizer, Legolas suggested dinner at Ton Chan , Wisma Cosway. The whole restaurant was practically our's, so we could kecoh all we liked. Among the familiar faces were Ken and JL, while the surprised guests were Jin and Ginger. Interestingly, Ginger was QueerRanter's primary schoolmate. According to him, he had a huge crush on him back then. But the fact that Ginger is a breeder was lost on many on us. He seemed so comfortable in our midst and Ken practically thought that he sucked dick. LOL. A very sporting fella. Anyway, it was my first time there, so I randomly gave their Gomoku Ramen a try. Loved the soup actually, and it had a good mix of charsiew, tempura, wakame , pork slices, vegetables and ajitama . Was a very fun dinner re

Santa's in Sunway

Image
Blue Maki , swiped from williamnyk on Flickr. Mass and latte best sum up my Sunday mornings. For lunch, I brought sis and the monsters to an unlikely venue-- Shiang Hai Vegetarian Restaurant . Big Monster ain't a fan of greens at all, so had to mislead him a bit. On the other hand, Little Monster munches on anything, so he ain't a problem. But the latter fell asleep during lunch anyway. Of all days, we went there on the fifteenth of the lunar month, a popular day to go vegetarian. So it was quite crowded. Introduced the popular choices to mum and sis-- twin hor fun and beancurd soup. This time round, tried the blue maki and seaweed charsiew fried rice. Carbohydrate overload that afternoon. Stopped by at Sunway Pyramid after lunch. Boy, what a mistake that was. Parking was hell. Ended up at The Pinnacle. Been ages since I had to hunt for parking like that. The kids were all worked up. Perhaps it was also the free lollipops from Sticky. Took a free photo with Santa. The woman

Can You Float?

Image
SugarDaddy , swiped from williamnyk on Flickr. Like an old granny, my Iswara fung sap again. Sent her to my regular mechanic to change the brake pads, engine oil and spark plugs. Then went for my regular WTM breakfast at Kong Kee with SK and mum. Some weeks back, mum snubbed her little toe on the sofa and as luck would have it, she got a repeat bullseye a few days later. Hard to heal, so brought her to clinic for a check. The doctor ordered an X-ray and luckily it revealed no fractures. Gave her some meds. Overdue for a haircut, so ventured to OUG with the kids ( yes, babysitting again! ). Chop my hair down to size, short enough to last till before CNY. Lunched at Esquire Kitchen , a restaurant that I had not stepped into for quite some time. I remember it being THE place to eat while I was an undergraduate. Didn't do much in the afternoon. Watched an episode of "Vicious". Amazed that from start till end, Ian McKellan didn't stop spewing wit, poison and sarcasm. Qu

Porridge & Kueh

Image
Red Delight , swiped from williamnyk on Flickr. St. Ignatius Church organized a Family Fiesta to wrap up its 25th Anniversary celebrations and of course to raise funds. Each BEC rented a stall for MYR100 to sell food and other items. My BEC decided to sell Nyonya kueh, kaya and porridge. Mum was tasked with cooking cuttlefish and peanut porridge while another woman prepared chicken porridge. Troubleome to say the least. Preparation work had started the day before with mum chopping spring onions, frying shallots and slicing ginger. She actually started cooking at midnight and only went to sleep at 2:00 am. :S. I woke her up at 5:30 am and started moving stuff into the car. She practically brought along the whole kitchen. At church, quickly found a parking space and unloaded everything with enough time to spare to attend the 6:45 am mass. By the time we came out, nearly every thing was set up. Our stall had a very Chinese New Year feel to it ( and wasn't even Christmas yet ). Every

Market & Wedding

Image
Spicy , swiped from williamnyk on Flickr. For a very long time, I had not set foot in OUG morning market on a Saturday. Went that day because mum wanted to get some supplies for the church cook-out the next day. Traffic wasn't too bad that day and we only needed to stop at Jalan Hujan Emas 5 and Jalan Hujan Emas 8. The pace was quite leisurely and we ate breakfast at our favourite lorong stall-- clear soup noodles with steamed chicken. Wholesome and nutritious. Mum had babysitting duty again that day, so went to my sister's place after church. Big Monster had a school field trip so it was just the little one. Little Monster was all dressed up and was hoping for more gai-gai time. Brought him along for Lifebook's shopping trip for electrical items. Can you believe that they were already playing CNY songs in early November?! The little one went crazy at the shop, opening and closing all the refrigerator doors that he could get his hands on. He would then tell me that there

Cranky Tuesday

Image
Meat Lover , swiped from williamnyk on Flickr. I got up at 4:00 am again on Tuesday. And it was a public holiday. F*ck work. At least it was the last handover session for me. In the future, I will only be involved in second level support. Left work at 8:00 am. Immediately drove to Kuchai Lama to pick KH up for breakfast. The fella wanted to eat at Restoran Kim Kee , Kota Kemuning but didn't find out how to get there. Made me a little mang zang . In the end, Waze saved the day. The address was Jalan Anggerik Varanda. Fantastic. Got a parking space smack dab in front of the shop. That helped my mood a little. We ordered wantan mee and curry noodles. KH had the curry. And when I switched my wantan mee with him for a while, he practically decimated all the noodles on the plate! T_T. So sad. Remind me not to share my food with KH next time! Hmph. For drinks, we ventured to Jalan Anggerik Vanilla pulak , a place called Brew & Bread . Was practically full. Ordered a cafe latte, pic

Cranky Sunday

Image
Handprinted , swiped from williamnyk on Flickr. Teluk Intan gave me a present which I discovered at 3:30 am the next day. Woke up with the urge to purge! Luckily it wasn't the cramp-inducing type. Just a whole lot of stuff needed to come out. T_T. Felt a little weird after that. Slept back for another half an hour before going out to work. At the office, I couldn't do anything until 5:30 am because the back end system was running its weekly backup routine. If I knew that before hand, I would be a happier boy. The designated support staff only turned up at 6:00 am. By that time, I had finished monitoring and writing the report. I hid my displeasure and briefed him on what to do next. At 8:00 am, I went home and left it to him to look after the other transaction windows. Reached home and had a simple breakfast of yesterday's miku . The whole tribe went to church again and with my brother in tow, we needed to drive the Avanza. The whole morning I wasn't very sociable and

The Soul of Teluk Intan

Image
Nasi Kunyit , swiped from williamnyk on Flickr. Coincidentally, this year's All Souls' Day coincided with Deepavali. And being a Saturday, the whole tribe could travel to Teluk Intan to visit my late father's grave. Woke up at 4:00 am that day and my past working hours had made it easier for me to get out of bed. At first I thought my BIL couldn't make it, but he came anyway. The fourth quarter is always his busy period. Since he drove, I took the opportunity to catch more ZZZs. My busy working schedule these past three weeks had taught me the importance to reduce one's sleep deficit. Made good time actually. Started out before six and the PLUS highway was quite smooth. In addition to that, the trunk road from Bidor to Teluk Intan was devoid of the usual mish-mash of trucks. Arrived some time after 8:00 am. Just in time for breakfast at the Jalan Maharani food stalls. By the time we sat down, the table was already full of food. BIL had bought apam balik ( too thi
