Crazy Commute, Pervy Partner

Image
Swiped from Tom Perry @ Flickr It was very crowded in the STAR LRT the other day. Crowded tahap Sardin Cap Ayam . I was standing near the door, in the connecting car. While the train was rumbling past Bandar Tun Razak, I suddenly felt something rubbing against the left cheek of my ass. It was hard alright... Perhaps it was just a brush. But truth be told, it was too rhythmic to be an innocent brush. I turned behind to look and I was greeted by a very cheeky smile. It was KH. And his Nexus 5. The end. P.S.: Some artistic license was used, but that was generally the story :P

GM Gathering

Image
T'was the last weekend of CNY, so my GM invited the whole project team to his place for a makan-makan gathering. Scheduled for lunch, so I went for the earlier English mass. Got my coffee fix at Coffee Sprex after that and shared a big breakfast with mum. Sitting behind me was a young couple. The guy was going on and on and on correcting the girl's grammar and vocabulary. Gosh. I suspect that he loves the sound of his own voice. And the worse thing was that the girl seemed to be enjoying it. Annoying is the new attractive. Back to the CNY party. Like in the past, my GM did all the cooking. Last year was pork ribs, this year was sandwiches. He baked his own bread and Vietnamese baguette, made his own bacon and ham and even grilled his own satay ! Amazing. We even joked if the sliced apples for the sandwiches were home-grown. And he would ply us with drink. Was high on The Glenrothes Scotch whisky and Johnnie Walker Premier Rare Old Scotch whisky. The house was overrun by kid

Didn't go marketing on Saturday. It was a rest day. Enough of cooking during CNY. Joined SK for WTM at Kong Kee . Mum had a charity event at 中国, a Chinese school at Jalan Loke Yew, so SK and I sent her out. Every day, I alight at Sultan Ismail LRT station for work. And from the platform, I see a school with the same name-- 中国. The English spelling was Chung Kwok. Little did I know that there is another 中国 in KL. Masyallah. When we arrived at Chung Kwok, the guard notified us that there was no function there that day. =_=. Frantically, we started Googling, Wazing, and Google Mapping for another possible 中国. Turns out that there is a school by the name of Chung Kwo ( pay attention, no K ). Ish. Seriously, couldn't they have used another name?! After dropping my mum off, SK and I made our to Bangsar's CZip Lee. The day before, she had mistakenly picked up a box of water colours think that it was acrylic. Apollo was with her and they both didn't realize it. This is what w

CNY V: 开工

Thought long and hard before deciding to take Tuesday off. KH was already working, so we met him after work. A bigger group than usual with Apollo, Lifebook and the surprise guest, CK who was back from Edinburgh. With all the cina -ness dominating the dinner table during the past few days, SK called for dinner at a more Western joint. Not much choice really. Ended up at The Pressroom after recalling that someone highly recommended it. Till now, I don't know who it was. But we studied the menu long and hard before deciding. Not very attractive ( and I couldn't recall what was recommended! ). LOL. However, dinner was very lively. And since they gave us a table behind a pillar, we could kecoh all we wanted without attracting undue attention. It was lamb burger for me and Asian pasta for KH. And true to form, SK went for the sausage platter. Her food preference mengalahkan gay ! Post-dinner drinks was at Tous les Jours . Our first time there. Love what they did to the interior.

CNY IV: Old Shanghai & Old Enmities

Brought mum to see the CNY decorations at The Gardens Mall on Monday. I loved their vintage oriental approach. A dressing table here, a lounge there. A seamstress' shop here, a restaurant there. Very old China. All the small details were perfect. And of course it was perfect for camwhoring. In comparison, MV's decorations were garish and an overkill of colours and flowers ( and their Ting-Ting candy seller at Center Court was a Bangladeshi :P ) . Lunch plans were at Sushi Zanmai, one of the few places open. A half hour queue.... Halfway through my 'Singaporean' patience, an alarm bell suddenly went off and the whole mall reverberated with the sound of giant ventilation fans. Went over to talk to the staff at Moo Cow. Didn't get what they were saying over the din. They just pointed to the ceiling. Since they didn't run for their lives, I guess it had happened before and it ain't life-threatening. LOL. My brother treated lunch that day. Sap-sap sui with SGD

CNY III: The Tribe and Cutiepie

Image
Photo credits: mintze / Hau @ Flickr On the third day of the Lunar New Year, mum and I attended English mass at SIC. Went earlier cause my sister was back from her in-laws' place in Melaka and would be visiting. Planned to have breakfast at Coffee Sprex but seeing that it was overflowing with customers waiting for their Big Breakfast, we made a detour to Restoran Rishadh closer to home. Upon reaching home, mum immediately started cooking lunch. The tribe arrived some time after 11:00 am. Missed the kids. Practically a seafood lunch since my refrigerator overflow-eth with fish from my cousins . Apollo, SK and granny were our repeat lunch guests. Food-wise, it was a semi-rehash of what we had on Friday during reunion dinner. With lunch out of the way, mum started her major siang ikan operation. Little Monster was kinda spooked by the size of the fishes. Since mum was all gung-ho about finishing up the job, she didn't join us for the birthday party at Cutiepie's place (

CNY II: Babysitting in Bagan Sungai Burung

Image
This year, mum decided not to visit relatives in Teluk Intan. Instead, we made our way to Bagan Sungai Burung to meet her nephews. Years and year ago, her eldest sister married into the small fishing village and spent a good part of her life there. Some years back, she was diagnosed with stage four liver cancer and passed away. Due to some drama in the family, several of her daughter-in-laws skipped town ( they were Chinese diaspora from Indonesia ), leaving the family without any women around the house. Kinda descended into 'chaos' in my opinion, but we all have different standards for that. Left home at about 10:00 am and used the new LATAR highway to get there. I expected less cars on the road, but PLUS was quite busy and the roads in and out of Kuala Selangor wasn't smooth. Impressed by the level of development in Kuala Selangor. It has GIANT, TESCO, a standalone McDonald's, Old Town Kopitiam and even bubble tea joints. Not bad at all. Bagan Sungai Burung has also
