Care For Your Life

Image
What to do after you turn 37....? Go for a medical check up. Been postponing my regular health check for a while now, so I took leave on a Wednesday to visit Life Care Diagnostics with mum. Thankfully the drive to Bangsar South only took 35 minutes. With the road works completed on Lebuhraya Bukit Jalil - Puchong, traffic out of my neighbourhood is now longer drives one crazy. We were greeted by their staff as we walked in, and they confirmed my appointment. But I found it funny that a walk-in customer actually got registered faster than mum and I. At the counter, they took down our details. While waiting for them to punch in everything, I overheard something very interesting from customer beside me: Staff: Mr XXX, what would you like to do today? Perhaps a head MRI? Mr. XXX: Head MRI? Didn't I just do that last year. Can you please check my record? Staff: Ohhhh yeah. Hmmm, what else... How about a heart scan? It's very good! Mr. XXX: OK la. Goodness. People

Nu in Ninety

During my Brunei trip, I actually made a major decision on my health-- I started taking Nu Skin ageLOC TR90 . The TR90 programme is Nu Skin's answer of over-hauling one's body and keeping one young through gene expression sience. KH took it a few months ago and I was very impressed by the results: KH chucked his size 34 pants for size 30. I had to go shopping with him several times after I noticed that his clothes were fitting him badly, but hey that's a hubby's job. KH completely shed his pear-shaped physique. That actually means that I no longer can sleep on his tummy, but I'm totally fine with that. KH had become more energetic, able to stay out late with being cranky. I also find that he no longer gets hangry attacks.  KH regained the 'sharp' face shape of his youth. It's like kissing the him from ten years ago. In terms of numbers on the Karada scan, KH's body age and visceral fat have both dropped dramatically.  Basically, the programm

Hari ini dalam sejarah : 15 years ago, the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center were downed by terrorists. In 2016, I barfed out a bowl of pho ( too sweet for my liking ) from Lucky Quan , Kuchai Lama. I took ten steps out of the restaurant and ended up bent over the drain to empty the contents of my stomach. Breakfast and lunch was expelled together with the gusto of Regan from "The Exorcist". Static washed over my vision and I just rested there, catching my breath. According to my mother, I turned white as a sheet and sweated profusely. Don't worry about eating there, it wasn't the food. Immediately headed for the clinic and went home after that. Slept and slept and slept. Some time in the afternoon, KH came over to see how I was doing. That was very sweet of him. Made me forget my illness for a while. I had a church pilgrimage the next day, so I needed to get well fast!

VCR Repeat

Image
On Tuesday morning, KH and I went to VCR Cafe  again. Tried the smoke hamachi   for breakfast. Downright uncommon if you ask me. We spent the morning sipping coffee and sharing a black velvet cake. And like last week, we went to The Pavilion for lunch. Ichi Zen is KH's favourite restaurant there, so that's where we went. I was so hungry that I bit off the tip of my plastic chopstick. Happened while I was trying to get a bite of the salmon ozisushi . The crack was so loud that girls sitting beside us looked over. I thought I had chipped a tooth, but seems that my incisor is tougher. Then we made a trip to Fahrenheit 88 to look at their Christmas decorations. More animatronics with a large Ferris wheel and a mini carousel. And their idea of baby Jesus is an elf kicking its legs in the air. Did more last minute Christmas shopping and finally rested for some gelato at Gelatomio . Used the last of my 'useful' HSBC vouchers. SK visited me after

Sinful Celebration

One week after my blood test, I collected the results from the clinic. The doctor was very surprised with the results. According to her, my response to the medication was much better than expected. Her target for me was just a 30% drop in bad cholesterol, but my results showed a more than 50% drop to healthy levels. She declared that it was good news and that I should continue whatever I was doing ( not exercising and eating like crazy? ). Could also consider halving my dosage since my cholesterol level was pretty low. Celebrated with a big plate of chicken rice + roast duck + roast pork at Taman United. Since the uncle was closing shop, he gave us a huge portion for just RM15.

On Your Back Please

Image
Since before my Penang trip, I had been waking up with a stiff back. Noticed that my foam mattress had kinda developed a crater in the middle, so I guess that's the source of my problems. During my days in Penang, the stiffness went away. And when I came home, the pain returned. Obviously my mattress was to blame. Quickly went to source for a new mattress and bed frame ( it crashed during sex once! ). Unfortunately, the bed took some time to arrive. The wait was excruciating cause my back pain got worse. Would wake up one to two hours before my alarm due to the discomfort. -_-". During the day, I would be fine. But the stiffness would return in the morning. The problem had dragged on for too long. Even after the mattress arrived ( pocket spring with latex top ), my pain continued. Decided to visit the chiropractor to get to the bottom of things. Visited Green Chiropractic at Medan Klang Lama 28 with SK and KH. Impressed by their elevator from Schindler that had a lighted

Sekinchan Slip

Met KH after work on Monday and he truly looked tired and unwell. Told me he was feeling tingly, which usually means that he is falling sick. Felt a fever coming on. So I fished out some painkillers from my bag and gave it to him. He took two tablets after dinner. An hour after that, he sent me a picture of his face looking like he had been bashed up by a bunch of gay lous fighting over the last Bottega wallet at a warehouse sale. His eyes were swollen and his nose was runny. Yikes. So surprised that he knows next to nothing about what he's allergic to and the dosage of usual OTC drugs. Thankfully, he knew that antihistamines would help his condition. He took some flu meds leftover from my stash. Rested two days at home after that. Seems that I have take notes on KH's drug allergies since doesn't seem to remember them very well. By Thursday he declared he was not well enough to go ahead with our planned Sekinchan day trip. SK and I went ahead with our leave plans a

Quick Update

Image
After the BKT expose in my last post, it's definitely necessary to post about something more healthy, like a morning run in Bukit Jalil Park. It had been ages since I brought out my running shoes and broke a sweat out there. And lunch was home-cooked noodles in chicken soup. Munched on some fresh strawberries too. A bit tired of Piccolo Cafe, KH & I went exploring and tried Kimosasa at the other side of Taman Equine instead. A dark vegetarian place. Just had a mocktail. Don't think there would be a repeat visit. In the evening, I had a BEC gathering at KM1. First time there. Pretty good security and living environment, but it comes at a price tag of RM500 a month!

Check Your Neck

Image
Ever since mum came back from her East Coast trip, she complained of pains in her shoulder and arms. I gave her nightly massages, but it didn't seem to go away. Best choice was to see the doctor. Revisited the Orthopaedic surgeon in Tung Shin. Her last visit was in 2009! Arrived at Tung Shin bright and early, but obviously not early enough because there was already a crowd at the waiting area. Turns out that the queue number begins at 7:00 AM! Oh well. For some reason, the hospital attracts loads of PRC patients. When it came to our turn, the doctor asked mum some questions and did his thing. He surmised that she must have hurt herself during the long drive. Not good to sit without back and neck support, with your head lolling about during the car ride. Bound to hurt some muscles and nerves. He gave her medication and advised her to do daily neck and shoulder exercises. Hopefully she will be diligent. The last I remembered, Tung Shin had a manual parking payment system. Got a sur

Journey to the East III: TheTribe Returns

With no need to go to the market, I scheduled a visit to the doctor on Saturday morning. Decided to do a full blood test after a lull of nearly two years. Curious to know if the oat powder that I had been taking twice a day was working. The elderly doctor took some blood after enquiring about my medical history. When I opened my wallet to pay, I found that KH had secretly slotted my RapidKL card into it. It was his way of making sure I didn't forget to bring my card on weekdays. SK joined me for breakfast at Piccolo Cafe . Shared the big breakfast. Not that great at all. Their stuff is always over-fried . Out of the blue, SimonLover buzzed me and we quickly made an ad hoc lunch appointment at Tropicana City Mall. Made a quick call to JJ and was glad that he and is hubby could join. To appease JJ and Bunny's discerning tastes, we ate at Sushi Tei . Main topics were SimonLover's health and Bunny's bed bug infestation. Moved to Hui Lau Shan for a second round.
