Aidil-FIT-ri

I went hiking on Raya Pertama . Yes, I did. Please don't faint or laugh hysterically. I did not go nuts. My mind wasn't taken over by aliens. KH, SK and I actually went to Wawasan Hill to hike. Wawasan Hill is part of the Air Itam Forest Reserve just beside Taman Wawasan. It's so close to the housing area that while hiking, one can still hear the traffic and the Aidilfitri prayers. We started at a little before 9:00 AM. At first, we went the wrong way. Followed a big group to a steep climb that went past a small Taoist shrine. Actually, that wasn't the main trail, but a side trail heading towards a waterfall. It got increasingly more difficult and SK seemed to be struggling, especially since she was wearing Birkenstocks instead of trail shoes. Didn't want an untoward incident, so we decided to head back out. That 25 minute detour KO-ed SK. She decided to wait outside, while KH and I headed to the main trail. The start of the trail was rocky, a trail carved ou

The Run That Wasn't A Run

Got up at 6:00 am on Sunday morning to attend the Allianz Pacer Runfie. Mum, SK, KH and I had registered to go. Just needed to pay MYR30 per person to join for the 5km fun run at Taman Bukit Jalil. SK picked us up at 6:30 am and we were at the meeting point in fifteen minutes. Plenty of parking was available and the warm up exercises had already started. Strangely, KH had not arrived. A few minutes later, he told me that he had arrived. I asked where he was and he said at a place with tents. Hmmm. No further information was forthcoming. Even after they flagged off, I did not see KH. I called him again. Turns out that he was at the wrong entrance. Funny that he got it wrong although I gave him the information the night before. Even stranger was the fact that the lack of people did not alarm him. Waited for him for ten minutes to walk over from the other end of the park. We ended up at the back of the pack. Nagged him for a good five minutes. Not easy being someone's hubby. :P. We

These Shoes Were Made For Running

Not to be compared to an MYR519 pair of Nikes! I'm not a shoe person. Such a break off from the gay stereotype hor ?. The last pair of shoes I bought was in May last year. And that was a pair of casual shoes. My last pair of sports shoes were purchased before I entered university a decade ago. Think it was from Bata. And so, I broke the drought last, last Sunday by purchasing a pair from New Balance at the Gardens. KH had been nagging me about it because I complain about ankle and hamstring aches every time I come back from my Sunday jog. The salesman was very helpful. Showed me all the ranges, checked out my feet and asked me about my requirements. "This range has the best cushioning and is suitable for someone like you with a high arch. This model is suitable for 20km. The one next to it 15km. How far would you be running?" "Erm, just show me the 10km." "How about the pair I am wearing? I ran in the KL Marathon before coming to work today."

A Simple Sunday?

Precious Mother's Milk Swiped from fesign (in Rome July20-26) . Church as usual on Sunday. Was ambushed to buy raffle tickets again! 42" LCD TV and Canon DSLR. Pray that I win. Lunch was at Restoran Chi Kar Yin at Bandar Puteri Puchong. Hakka cuisine. According to SK, the place has many positive reviews on the internet. More than ten actually. Sad to say, it was a disappointment. We ordered Hakka Salted Chicken, Vinegar Pig Trotters, Pepper Stomach Soup and blanched lettuce. The salted chicken was the best dish. Big portion. Full-bodied herbal fragrance. Use of free range chicken. The pig trotters were completely wrong. The vinegar they used was of sub-standard quality. And the pepper stomach soup at the foodcourt near my house tastes better than their's. For MYR8.50, they mixed in lean meat. My goodness. I'm not going back there. On our way to get the car, saw Taiping Mali just a few shoplots away. A healthy crowd. Wanted to ta-pau their yellow sticky rice, but
