Famous Meat and Mee

Image
Simonlover was in Hong Kong so I asked him to help me get some Nu Skin products ( TS Scalp and Jungamals SCC ) that aren't available in the Malaysian market. Arranged lunch with him at My Toast n Roast  ( by Sean and Angie ) so that he could pass it to me. It was still the year end holiday season, so there was ample parking directly in front of the shop in SS2. We were pretty early, so there weren't that many people in the shop. Unfortunately, the waiter still managed to screw our orders. Although Timeout magazine voted them as one of the best char siew in Kuala Lumpur, but I wasn't impressed. Since the drinks there were diluted, we continued our chit-chat over a cup of teh tarik at Kayu Nasi Kandar instead. In the evening, went on a Hokkien Mee Trail with SK and mum. Tried Restoran Ahwa near Jalan 222. Crazy place to find parking. Best bet is to get into the residential areas near the shop. There are many food stalls there, but I think the star is the Hokkien me

Christmas at Pavilion 2017

Image
Every year I would bring mum to admire the Christmas decorations at Pavilion Kuala Lumpur. Since the Monsters were not with us, we went there right after Sunday mass. Makes things much easier not having two chase after those two kids in a crowded mall. One more week till Christmas, but the the crowds were already heavy at Bukit Bintang. Parking at Pavilion Kuala Lumpur was already full, and the traffic police made road diversions. Thankfully I could still get to the Menara Standard Chartered parking. We did a whole lot of camwhoring after lunch at Fuji Sushi ( it was already 2:30 PM! ). It was my first time at the Japanese restaurant. Not bad, and they have 10% off for Parkson Card members. Although we were there the whole afternoon, we didn't much of anything at all. Wanted to sit down at KAKIGŌRI but there were no tables available. One table at a hidden corner near the escalator was occupied by two kids ( one in a pram ). Both were obviously below 5 years old. I asked

Spa Party After Sloppy Sushi

Image
For the longest time, mum and I had not visited Paradigm Mall after Sunday mass. Not wanting to hurt its feelings, we made a trip there on the second Sunday of November. Wanted to have something light, so we went to Sushi Zanmai , which I must admit was a mistake. Sad that their standards had dropped so much. I ordered a plate of hamachi nigiri sushi , and when it came, it looked like someone just took randomly slice piece of fish and dumped it on sushi rice! And I was even lucky enough to have an add-on of ebiko on the fish. The contract between Paradigm Mall and AirAsia BIG has also ended, so one can no longer collect BIG points from expenses at the mall. In the evening, MaisonSK hosted dinner again, with the usual faces-- Apollo and QueerRanter-D. But we had a special guest that evening, Gratitude who had come all the way from Klang. Dinner was followed by a platter of cured sausages with figs, apples, and cheese. I also took the opportunity to organize a Nu Skin ageLoc spa p

STWW2017 II: The Million Dollars

Image
Continued from here . The next morning, mum and I skipped a trip to the morning market to attend day two of STWW2017 at MIECC. We tried to arrive early, but there was a horrible jam heading into the venue because MIECC parking management opened only one counter to collect parking fees. Can't fathom the logic behind that decision. The doors to the hall was not opened yet, but there was already a huge queue outside. Once the doors were opened, everyone rushed in. Greeters lined main pathways, giving participants high fives. To get the blood flowing, there was a morning aerobics of sorts via a dance sequence. The music was pumping and everyone was psyched up. Along the day, many ST members were recognized for their achievements in helping countless of those around them find health and opportunities in the Nu Skin platform, Also had the opportunity to listen to Angela Liew speak, one of the visionaries behind ST. Nu Skin's Chief Scientific Officer, Dr. Joseph Y. Chang also

STWW2017 I: Dazzling Night

Image
My dear KH had tickets to Success Together Worldwide Global Convention (STWW2017) , but he had forgotten that he had a wedding to attend in Hong Kong. The logical solution would be for his spouse to take his place. The event kicked off with a charity night on Friday evening for the Nu Skin Children's Heart Fund. Mum and I braved the Friday rush hour traffic which was made worse by the rain. In addition to that, we had to babysit the two Monsters. Made it to MINES International Exhibition & Convention Centre  (MIECC) at about 8:00 PM. By the time we got registered, and sat down, we had missed a bulk of the performances. Only managed to catch the Singapore delegates' "Baby Shark" number, and Malaysia's performance which was led by the talented Ichiro Chuah. The kids were entertained and diamond torch lights that were inside the goodie bags kept them occupied. ST also invited a speaker from Taiwan, a girl who has Epidermolysis bullosa (EB). Due to her disor

Fish and More Fish

Traffic warden duty at church is one of the least desirable, but the rainy weather made things easier in a way. At least I did not need to deal with the sweltering heat. Carrying around an umbrella is simple enough to keep dry. When my mother and brother came out, I asked them what's for lunch. Mum suggested Japanese food. Racked my brain for a good option. Thought about Uroko, but I'm kinda bored with that. Picked KH's brain instead. He suggested that we go to Uokatsu at Plaza Damas. FYI, it's opposite Hartamas Shopping Center. Just take the bridge, and the shop is just a few doors left. Uokatsu is a no-frills Japanese restaurant. No fancy decorations here, and the whole place is wafting with the smell of dashi . Everything is practical. Sit, order, and eat. Even the menu had no pictures, just a piece of A4 paper. Since there were no visual cues, we just made some random choices with some input from the helpful waitress. We had a mixture of items-- sashimi platter,

Care For Your Life

Image
What to do after you turn 37....? Go for a medical check up. Been postponing my regular health check for a while now, so I took leave on a Wednesday to visit Life Care Diagnostics with mum. Thankfully the drive to Bangsar South only took 35 minutes. With the road works completed on Lebuhraya Bukit Jalil - Puchong, traffic out of my neighbourhood is now longer drives one crazy. We were greeted by their staff as we walked in, and they confirmed my appointment. But I found it funny that a walk-in customer actually got registered faster than mum and I. At the counter, they took down our details. While waiting for them to punch in everything, I overheard something very interesting from customer beside me: Staff: Mr XXX, what would you like to do today? Perhaps a head MRI? Mr. XXX: Head MRI? Didn't I just do that last year. Can you please check my record? Staff: Ohhhh yeah. Hmmm, what else... How about a heart scan? It's very good! Mr. XXX: OK la. Goodness. People

Nu in Ninety

During my Brunei trip, I actually made a major decision on my health-- I started taking Nu Skin ageLOC TR90 . The TR90 programme is Nu Skin's answer of over-hauling one's body and keeping one young through gene expression sience. KH took it a few months ago and I was very impressed by the results: KH chucked his size 34 pants for size 30. I had to go shopping with him several times after I noticed that his clothes were fitting him badly, but hey that's a hubby's job. KH completely shed his pear-shaped physique. That actually means that I no longer can sleep on his tummy, but I'm totally fine with that. KH had become more energetic, able to stay out late with being cranky. I also find that he no longer gets hangry attacks.  KH regained the 'sharp' face shape of his youth. It's like kissing the him from ten years ago. In terms of numbers on the Karada scan, KH's body age and visceral fat have both dropped dramatically.  Basically, the programm

Woke up very early on Sunday morning to send mother out for her Bentong day trip. The original plan was for me to do a morning run with KH after dropping mum off, but that was called off due to the rain. Changed the plans and headed to 6:45 AM instead. Right after mass, I picked KH up and we went to breakfast together. The place was near his home, a kopitiam by the name of Restoran Leong Wei . We shared a plate of curry CCF with YTF. Not exactly a good choice for my scratchy throat, but it was worth it. Further treatment for my throat continued back at home. A very unconventional treatment involving a special delivery method, a suppository of sorts. LOL. If only all 'medical procedures' were so pleasurable. In the afternoon, we headed to Sunway Putra Mall for lunch. KH introduced me to Momo King , a Nepalese restaurant at the food court. Shared a bowl of soup momo ( Nepalese meat dumplings in a dhal-like soup ) and fried noodles. Once we had filled our bellies, we w
