January's Boy

I had my hair cut on Saturday and due to the impending Chinese New Year, the salon was busier than usual. I had to wait for more than forty minutes to be attended to. And due to the rush, my stylist KK cut my hair before washing it. Horror! Oh, ok, it's not THAT devastating. But he did use the more expensive shampoo at no extra charge. Not to apologize for the wait, but for bringing him 2 other customers that day whose combined bills I think rang up to MYR500. And I got MYR5. Thank you very much. Straight after that, Cheryl and I sped off to The Curve for Janvier's birthday (on the way also picked up Apollo and QueerR). It was raining cats and dogs and The Street was quite water-logged. They gotta consider building a SMART tunnel somewhere. By the time we arrived at Itallianie's, a whole bunch of bloggers and friends were already occupying a large table in the cheese-choked interior.

Since no space was available, we sat at another table nearby and bloggers would come by one by one to visit. Felt like The Godfather (not trying to usurp your place dear) meeting his underlings. Complete with checked tablecloth and Italian restaurant setting. It was nice seeing Joery (finally managed to juxtapose Lex and Joel, the eyes and eyebrows are very similar) and J3 again. We ordered the Salmon Piccata (just like they tossed vinegar and angel together, blegh), Artichoke and Spinach Formaggio (creamy vegetable spread over ginger bread; good, this) and fried calamari (couldn't really taste the seafood under the batter).

The whole place started to gempar after the arrival of JL and Adrienz's posse and not forgetting the presence of red wine and sangria on the table. But the mood soured when we found out that the supposedly "bottomless" drinks weren't "bottomless" after all. They refused to refill. No good reason given. SK, KH and I got Janvier a comforter set and he was already planning how to "stain" it. Left around 11pm after a group photo session. This birthday event that took 500 e-mails to plan turned out quite well and I think I'll start a pool to bet on the number of e-mails to plan the next birthday bash!

@David:
You can always celebrate it with your friends in Pg.
