Just some two weeks back, a colleague of mine lost control of her car on MEX highway while tackling a bend in the rain. Her cute little Hyundai i10 swerved from left to right after hitting her brakes. She lost control of the brakes and the steering wheel. When her car finally came to a halt, it was inches from the railing. Thankfully, no other vehicles were involved in that incident and she was not hurt, only shaken. That should have prompted me to have my tyres checked. It happened to me while I was driving home on a rainy night. Like her, I was manoeuvring a bend and when I hit my brakes, I could immediately feel my car moving forward faster than I intended. There was no way to steer. The car just lunged head on to the pavement. The moment my car hit the pavement, the steering unlocked and it rebounded to the outer lane. I regained control and drove back to the left lane, without missing a beat. I knew I was very lucky that there were no cars beside me at that moment. I continued t

Dark Days

The electrical problems at my house had reached its peak with the main fuse unwilling to budge. And the electrician that my sister engaged was so busy that he couldn't come on short notice. So when I landed at KLIA2, I directly took a cab to my sister's place. Went back home to pack a few things after I ate dinner. Not a pleasant experience rummaging in the dark. Lucky I had a large LED lantern to be my Light of Elendil. The kids had new toys to play with. A stray cat had delivered a few kittens in the store room much to my sister's chagrin. The maid had to hose down the baby stroller where the mother cat had decided to give birth. The mother cat wasn't very attentive, so my sister stepped in to feed them her breast milk! With a syringe of course. The kids had fun with the kittens, but were kinda rough. Little Monster picked them up by their heads. Yikes. In the end, only one survived and the mother cat finally picked up the lone kitten and left. On Saturday a

Duck Kuay Teow Th'ng , swiped from williamnyk on Flickr. Noticed that mum was behaving a bit weirdly on Sunday morning. And while driving to church, I found out why. She cracked and and started venting her anger. From what I heard, she was angry at my sister for something she said, or more accurately, something she did not say. After weeks and weeks of taking of her grandkids day in and day out, my mother suddenly decided not to be taken for granted anymore. Ugh, the drama. Had to placate her to the best of my abilities. The Eucharist probably succeeded where I failed. Drove to Bandar Puteri Puchong to look for eats. Saw a shop with good business called Penang One so I guess it was a safe bet. It was actually a collection of 'famous' hawker fare from Penang and I just came back from Penang. LOL. Never mind. One can never have enough time and stomach capacity to try everything anyway. The food is supposedly imported fresh from Penang daily. Tried the assam laksa since I d

Toasted Over Toast

Preparing breakfast , swiped from khairilfz on Flickr. Picked up SK from the hospital after church and had a Korean lunch nearby. Quite lousy discharge procedures. With just three patients checking out that day, they moved like it was thirty patients. So much for their new management. Entered their "Choose My Hospital of Choice Contest" and hopefully we would get something put of the whole ordeal! Immediately after getting out of her hospital clothes, SK wanted to do some shopping!Tangs @ The Pavillion was moving out so they were having a big clearance of up to 80%. And SK had a birthday voucher that she needed to collect. Out we went to Bukit Bintang to see if there were any bargains to found. For the first time ever, available parking at The Pavillion was zero. Zilch. Went down to B3 and back up to B2 to park at some illegal spot. The number of people with Tangs carrier bags proved that it would be promising. We joined the fray. I didn't buy anything from the men's
