Thai With TummyFull

Here's some of the latest shots from my usual Saturday PasarPride routine:

A new vendor selling fermented black beans, fermented black beans, hot bean paste, and some varieties of nuts. The black beans were really fragrant, great for dishes like bitter gourd chicken. Fermented olives used to be real popular go-together for porridge.

When I was little, 'sea chicken' used to be common dish on my dinner table. Mum would batter the weird-looking fish, fry it, and serve it with some sauteed onion rings. Doesn't really taste like chicken, and the fish has a natural stone-like ballast that is quite unique. Today, the fish is no longer cheap.

A new stall popped up selling healthy breakfast options. The sandwich with purple and yellow sweet potato paste was really eye-catching. However, the pasar veterans still preferred the deep-fried sweet potato balls, and ham chim peng!

SimonLover arranged dinner that night with TummyFull. Wasn't easy coming up with a decision on where to eat. Finally decided on Mooban Thai at Taman Bukit Desa. Full house that night, but I was lucky enough to secure the last table nestled at the back of the restaurant. We shared a few dishes-- clear soup tomyum, lime sauce stuffed squid, grilled pork neck, and pomelo salad. Not exceptionally delicious, just average. Grilled pork neck was dry, and I found the salad too oily. Their Thai milk tea is pretty good.

Unlike his nickname, TummyFull's tummy is rarely ever full. During coffee time at Encore, he ordered a slice of strawberry watermelon cake. An interesting combination with a hint of rose. Pretty to look at, but pretty expensive too.
