Hot Cross Buns 2018

Stations of the Cross I

Following Maundy Thursday was Good Friday, to commemorate the crucifixion and death of Jesus Christ. I took the day off to join the outdoor Stations of the Cross at church. Different ministries were tasked with carrying a wooden cross from station to station. Mum came along too, and we represented the Chinese BECs. Although it was high noon, the congregation were unfazed by the heat. Once the all the stations were completed, we headed back into the church for the liturgy of the word. At the end, there was the veneration of the cross, and everyone left quietly after that.

Dinner was with The Tribe at Restoran Fung V. Everything was great, except that the fish was more expensive than we thought. The kids wanted dessert, so we went on a cake hunt. A LONG cake hunt:
  1. Piccolo Cafe was closed.
  2. Street Cool Cafe and Lounge didn't have any cakes.
  3. Dessert Garden only served tong sui.
  4. Walnut Tree Cafe specialized in pies.
  5. Hit the jackpot at Butter Up Cafe.

The business at Butter Up had gone down. A poor reflection of its past performance. My colleague later informed me that there was a criminal case there, hence the big change. Anyway, we ordered a few coffees and cakes to keep the kids happy. The long hunt had really worked up their sweet tooth!
