There's Life After Brunei III: Do You Like Birds?

Without a window in the room, I really could have went on sleeping if KH wasn't there to kiss me awake. Was so lazy to get up... But he nudged me downstairs and we had the breakfast at Beach Road Prawn Noodle House. Much better to eat there during weekdays. A good crowd, but minus the chaos. This time round, I ordered the pig tail variety. Been quite some time since I sampled that smooth variety of meat and skin. Having filled our tummies, we packed up and checked out. Our next destination was the Jurong Bird Park. Trying for it since our last attempt was a failure due to the rain. The ride to Boon Lay MRT station was still as long as ever and the train was packed at an off-peak hour. Ugh. From Jurong Point, took Bus 251 to the park. Luckily, the weather was great. We practically walked around the whole place. Saw the penguins, parrots, starlings, pelicans, lories, emus, swans, flamingos, etc. Took plenty of pics especially at the walk-in aviaries, like the Lory Loft and the Waterfall Aviary. But for those in cages, I couldn't get many decent shots.





Some birds were hard to spot, like the Bird of Paradise and most of the supposed 1,500 species of African birds. Was also a bit disappointed that I could not get a good shot of the Toco Tucan. The easiest bird to photograph was the lory. Diabetic little birds that can't resist the sweet stuff, they're never too shy to come close. Interesting to note was a fella going around with his girlfriend taking photos with a plush Sesame Street Bert toy. Weirdness! Our final show was of the birds of prey and it was raining! The falconer, Mas was quite entertaining and photogenic, with a tinge of sarcasm and a headmistress-like approach. At the nocturnal birds section, it was so annoying to hear Singaporeans pronouncing "Owl" as "Owel" like in "Vowel". Ish.



By afternoon, I was hot, cranky, achy and hungry already. We only shared a smoked salmon wrap and a coffee earier. The Dimbulah coffee that they served was good! Early dinner was at Hand-In-Hand Restaurant, Jurong Point. Ordered fried rice, Shanghai chive pancake, xiao long bao and siew mai. Not bad. Amazingly, their xiao long bao beat Lei Garden. KH bought me a cup of green bubble tea from KOI Cafe. Sedap!. No wonder there was a queue and a numbering system for the pick up. Back home, we downed the bubble and a guava his housemate gave us. The day's activity did not drain the boyfriend, but actually made him horny. LOL. Not that I'm complaining. :P. KH had some new tricks up his sleeve and of course I was very appreciative!
