Cholest-Away!

My last blood profile was done about two years ago and so after marketing one Saturday, I marched myself into Pathlab. The process was painless as the phlebotomist was very skilled. However, I was a bit shocked that she handled blood without any latex gloves on. Errr... She touched the blood-soaked cotton with her bare hands hor... Anyway, I came back on Friday to collect the results and boy were they shocking! The total cholesterol was out the roof!!! Even higher than my mother's! So sad. Luckily, my HDL is high, but then, so is my LDL. Looks like I have to start making some adjustments. It's not like I eat unhealthily to begin with... sigh. Gonna increase my fiber intake wth oats and try to reduce overall fats. No more egg yolks and internal organs. KH tells me to take some nuts too. And of course exercise. Need to fit in more cardio. This would be challenging. Wish me luck!

Avocados are great too! Plus they're high in fat (the good kind), so you can use them as a meat replacement/substitute! :)

I've never had a blood screening before... Hmm, maybe I should huh.

HDL is good cholesterol, so its okay to be on the high side.

LDL is bad cholesterol.. this is what you should be worried about if it's high.. Should never be too high or too low on this..

Did you fast before the blood test? I think exercise and a change in dietary habits are the key to lower cholesterol levels. You can do it!

maybe not having enough long session vigorous sex ... then all cholesterol sure burn away fast

Regular exercise w/ healthy food intake shall resolve this. Ever since I m gym addict few years back and jog frequently, my report usually shock the doctor!

Taking nuts? Will that really help? I mean usually the image is u imagine someone lying on bed or sofa munching nuts (peanuts, cashew nut etc.. ) and watching TV..

I mean.. really dun see a connection to healthy lifestyle there =p

Wah this reminds me that my last cholesterol test was exactly 2 years ago (from today). Over was slightly high. LDL was slightly high but HDL is high enough such that the ratio of total over HDL is sufficiently low. Doctor said it was ok wor.

I know you're careful with what you eat. Hmmmm is it lack of exercise then? Stress can cause it I supposed. Heck, stress can cause anything!
