The September Issue

Picked up this "documentary" at the DVD pirates' the other day. Well, it definitely doesn't watch like "The Devil Wears Prada", but it is interesting enough. The star is supposed to be Anna Wintour, the Editor of Vogue, but somehow, I felt that Grace Coddington, her Creative Director subtlely stole her thunder. Throughout the whole thing, Anna merely gives disdainful looks and says, "Cut this out, cut that out". Grace on the other hand is portrayed like the underdog, someone who has passion for her work, but must kow-tow to an impossible boss. Everytime Anna reviews her photoshoot, she would go into the compilation room and look at the rejected photos. Everytime Anna gives some directive on what to leave in and what to put out, we can see Grace's exasperation. After "discussing" with the boss, she would come out to complain and let out steam, flabbergasted by the decision. I'm sure we can all identify with that. The look in her eyes. The set of her mouth. It all shows. We see her frustration, but she is realistic enough to realize that without something to put her work in, it would not be valid and she works woth the constraints. Even more touching is how she picked up the pieces of her life after a horrible life experience and continue to contribute 40 years of her life in the industry. Quite moving. Do give it a chance.

sometimes we have to kow-tow due to the reality-materialistic-world~ sad right?

Thakoon's cute but not really my type. I would prefer American designer Marc Jacobs! Hehe. But since I am sticky rice, maybe Bernard Chandran(without goatee), Jonathan Cheng (without goatee) or Rizman of the Rizman Ruzaini label. ;p

Must always go back to the dollars and cents.

@LittleD:
Bernard Chandran! Mature and married! You have a thing against facial goatees is it? Hehe. I like my men smooth. Marc Jacobs has that whole beard thing going on.
