Lil' Sista

Celebrated my mei's birthday on Saturday together with QueerR, Apollo and Cheryl. She brought us to Dragon Hut Restaurant, Taman Desa Waterpark for a nice dinner. It was my first time there and I was a bit skeptical about the place at first since it was secluded (no business!) and had lots of buses parked outside (tourist trap!). But it proved itself to be quite good in terms of food quality and price. My mei seemed to think that it had great ambience too:

"Isn't it romantic dining by the lake?"

"Erm.. it's an abandoned mining lake..."

We ordered quite a variety of food in small portions in order to enjoy as many tastes as possible. Foregoing rice, we ordered wat tan hor (recommended!) and Hokkien noodles (too salty!). The accompanying dishes were fried aubergines with salted egg yolks (weird but quite interesting), marmite pork ribs (pales in comparison to Leong Nga, Serdang), sweet and spicy crab with fried mantou (meaty but the gravy wasn't quite to my liking), and beancurd with gourd (very fragrant!).

The night was still young, so after dinner we went back to Taman Desa to visit the neighbourhood Korean mart to purchase some shoju. Never had it before really. We purchased 7 bottles of different flavours. With some tidbits from the nearby Sri Kota (where a drunken deaf mute was seen harrassing the cashier whom also did not utter a peep), we headed back home. I liked the ginseng and wolfberry flavoured one. The rest were mostly like drinking sweetened ethanol. Blah-blahed around the table, but mei's housemate went on studying like we weren't there (hope she passed her exam!).

By midnight, Cheryl was half-drunk and I already had the floating head feeling. Was too tired from work most probably. So we called it a night. Cheryl and I sent Apollo home, while mei sent QueerR back to Ampang. She's really a speed demon-- took the same time for me to send Apollo back to Kerinci. Masyallah. Hope you like the MP3 player and the "Fundue" kit! Happy Birthday!

Ah, that's odd...the deaf mute or the cashier should have had paper and pen at the ready. When we communicated with deaf mutes it was also without sound - it's all in the expressions (plus our sign language sucks).
